Morning Music Selection of the Week at HES!
At this time of the year, we sometimes listen to music for autumn written by the Italian composed Vivaldi. This year we will listen to music about autumn written by the Russian composer Alexander Glazunov.
Glazunov’s ballet The Seasons was composed for the Russian Imperial Ballet, and first performed in February 1900. A ballet is music that has been written for dancers to perform to the movements arranged by a choreographer.
Autumn is the season of the fruits of the harvest. Many years ago, farmers prepared for the winter by harvesting all of their crops so that they had food for the winter.
The music for autumn that we will listen to this week is a fast dance.
During the next few weeks we will see many leaves change color as fall turns into winter.
The question this week is:
What are the names of the other seasons?
Give your answers to Mr. Roberts by Wednesday.
There will be 2 bubbles/water drops for a correct answer.
