Happy Saturday, Warriors!
I encourage you to engage in our Virtual Spring Open House, which will be held on Tuesday, March 9, from 6:00 - 7:00. Please be on the lookout for emails from your child's teachers, with links to join their classes. See the flyer below. We will also have individual sessions with our Administrative Team, Our Counseling Team, and a session to view some of the technology and student projects on campus. Each parent has the ability to attend the classes and sessions that they chose. If a parent has individual questions about your student, please set up an individual conference with the teachers, so that your questions are addressed appropriately.
Friday, March 12 is the end of Term 3. This is the last week that teachers will accept work from your child. It is extremely important that if your child has missing work or needs to make up an exam, that it be completed as soon as possible. Your students still have time to salvage their low grades, but please be aware that the end of the year is fast approaching.
I'd like to thank our Counseling team for the hard work they've done this past week in providing course selection information to our students. If you haven't had a discussion with your child about their courses for next year, now is the time. Your child can access all the information shared through Schoology, so as them about it. Now is the time to select your classes for next school year. I also recommend that you reach out to the counselors if you have any questions.
You may have noticed that our car rider line has been moving slowly this week. We are committed to making sure that ALL our families are completing the Wellness Survey in Skyward, so we are checking each vehicle and each student's compliance. What we have noticed is that students will say that it has been completed, but when we check the list, it has not. Please understand that that must be completed EVERY morning. It is extremely important that the survey is done each day and that students who are either sick or exposed to a positive COVID diagnosis do not report to campus. We count on you and your family to comply with this important COVID mitigation step. We want to make sure everyone is safe.
Thank you very much for your support, understanding and flexibility as we work to provide the best learning environment during a pandemic. I understand that it is a stressful time and I appreciate your support. Thank you.
Ms. Cortez
Principal
Nominations for New School Names
FBISD is seeking community suggestions for the naming of a new elementary campus, to be located in the Riverstone community, and a new high school, to be located on the southeast side of the District on FM 521. Participate by using the links below.
Update on Mask Requirement for FBISD Schools
The District will continue this requirement until it can further review guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Fort Bend County health officials, and the District’s medical advisor, and the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Per the Governor's statement, "public schools may operate as provided by, and under the minimum standard health protocols found in, guidance issued by the Texas Education Agency."
The overall health and safety of the community remains a priority, and District leadership is aware that not all employees have had the opportunity to be vaccinated. Retaining the mask mandate will ensure a safe learning environment for all students, teachers and staff.
FBISD continues to work with local COVID-19 vaccine providers to ensure that all staff eligible for vaccination in groups 1A and 1B according to the State’s phased vaccine distribution. The District also continues to advocate for the State to include educators and school staff among the priority groups for vaccination.

Positive Behavior Intervention and Support
Positive Behavior Interventions and Support Tips for Parents:
It is an inevitable part of life that kids will not always make the best choices. At times, the behavior may even be unacceptable. While those moments may require your attention, how you respond is critical. Though remaining calm is the last thing you want to do, think about how you are going to respond. Remember that how you react to the undesirable behavior is teaching your child how to respond in tough situations.
Kempner HS Information for 8th Grade Students
Greeting 8th Grade Parents,
This email is being sent on behalf of Kempner High School counseling team.
By now we hope you have had an opportunity to view Kempner’s virtual Coog Fest. We know the transition from middle to high school can overwhelming for some students and parents and you might have questions.
In a non-COVID world Kempner counselors would host a day for 8th Grade parents to schedule one-on-one sessions with a counselor to answer lingering questions or concerns about Course Selection. This year in lieu of one-on-one sessions please email your Kempner Counselor based on alpha split below with your Course Selection 2021-22 questions.
Thank you.
