Craddock's Weekly Update
For the Week of September 4, 2023
Mrs. Menta's Message
Happy Holiday Weekend Craddock Families!
Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for our students, their families, our staff and our PTO. Everyone has worked so hard to help the school year get up and running so smoothly! We appreciate our students being brave and jumping into making new friends, getting to know a new teacher and taking risks throughout the day. We are grateful to our families for being patient, communicative and so gracious as we work out all the kinks to the year! Endless thanks to our staff for their time, patience and kindness getting the year going. There are so many moving parts and they handle them all beautifully! Finally, many thanks to our PTO and parent volunteers. We could not have opened the school year without them. From the parent volunteers for arrival to the adorable balloons...many thanks from all of us at Craddock!
Please be reminded that class t-shirt orders are due by Friday, 9/08. The information has been in the PTO update for weeks, but I included specifics below in case you missed it! The kids love getting these shirts! We look forward to wearing them throughout the year.
We have so many exciting events coming up! Please stay closely tied to our weekly communication for all you need to know! We will not be sending paper copies of much this year! We rely on this tool greatly and hope you can too!
We look forward to seeing all of our 1st and 2nd grade friends back tomorrow, 9/05!
Sending a SHOUT OUT to JJ's Beautification Service for their beautiful work!
Class T-shirt Orders are Due Friday, 9/08!
You spoke and AEPTO listened! The class t-shirts have been streamlined this school year to a Greenmen rainbow of green, black, and gray. While you are not required to purchase a class t-shirt, teachers will sometimes use these class t-shirts and/or their corresponding colors for field trips/field days.
Please click on the link below to find your child's teacher and their shirt color. Parents can order class t-shirts for themselves too!!
The deadline to order class t-shirts is September 8!
Summer reading forms due ASAP! We are recognizing all readers on 9/08!
School Fees Due

Send in a check, made out to Aurora City Schools and in the memo line please add student name and teacher.
Mrs. Courtad's Corner (Craddock's School Nurse)
I have had some questions about COVID protocol. Please see below for information and don't hesitate to reach out with questions.
For confirmed cases of COVID-19, Aurora City Schools district continues to follow the recommendation of Portage County Health Department that includes isolating at home for 5 days after the start of symptoms and wearing a mask for days 6 thru 10, while resuming school or work activities.
If your child tests positive for COVID, please contact me, Mrs. Courtad at 330-954-2147 (clinic phone) or 330-285-3714 (clinic cell) or by email email@example.com.
Meet Mrs. Schnur, Craddock's New School Counselor!
Hi Craddock Families!
I am so excited to be your student’s school counselor for the 2023-2024 school year! As the school counselor, I am here to support all students with any social-emotional concerns, academic concerns and even career development in order to help create a learner that is future ready! Not only am I here for the students at Craddock, but also for the families. Working closely with our families is super important to me so please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or thoughts at any time.
This year I will be delivering classroom guidance lessons to every classroom, facilitating small groups, and providing individual counseling and check-ins when necessary. At the start of the school year my main focus will be helping our students transition back into the classroom and start the year out on a positive note. When visiting the classrooms within the first few weeks of the school year I will provide the students with a better understanding of how I can help them and what my job looks like here at Craddock.
While I am new to Craddock and the Aurora City Schools, this is my fourth year as a School Counselor and I cannot wait to share my passion for school counseling with all of you!
I currently reside in Mentor with my husband and our four month old Cavapoo puppy Finn! If I can help you in any way please do not hesitate to contact me via email, firstname.lastname@example.org, or calling ext. 1135. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year and cannot wait to work with your family!
Give Back at the Pump
Shell Gas Station in Aurora is making a donation to AEPTO for anyone who fills their gas tank at the “giving pumps." Pumps 5 & 6 are identified by a sign that says “This pump helps children in our community," as a way to give back to students in the community. Support your local schools while filling your tank!! This is only available for a limited time, so go while the sign is up!
Craddock Transportation Request/Attendance Reporting 23-24
If you want to change your child's transportation in any way, please scan the QR code below or click the button below to fill out our Google form. This can be done from any device and your reply will be sent immediately to our secretary, Mrs. Kerchenski.
Also, if your child is absent, instead of calling us, you can also use this code to report the absence and reason for the absence. We are working really hard to reduce the amount of phone calls, emails or notes that we receive. We ask that you reserve those modes of communication for emergencies only. It's hard to manage communication coming in from all those different medias for 400 plus students. Thank you in advance for your help and let us know if you have any questions at all!
The login information is as follows:
User name = jane.smith (That is the students first name period last name with no spaces) Password = students date of birth 01012021 with no characters or spaces between mmdayyear
Once you are in, go to "Work with students" then "View my students" and you should see all of your students to choose from.
Please be reminded we now have GPS on all of the school buses. You can see when the bus is to arrive at your home. Download the app "versatrans my stop" from the app store and sign in the same as above. If you have any questions or concerns with transportation, please email us at email@example.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Note, we are never sure how many students will be riding the buses. Once schools open we will make necessary adjustments for buses that may be full. If you did not respond to our survey and your students will not need transportation, please notify us via email.
Thank you and have a safe school year!

Please let me know if you have any questions!
I can’t wait to drive around town and see all the Mumkins!!!
Car Rider Protocol
Students can be dropped off at 8:40 a.m. at the earliest! Please do not allow them to exit your car until that time, as there is no staff to monitor them. Pick up will begin promptly at 3:10 each day. If everyone knows the system and cooperates, we will have all students in cars in 15-20 minutes.
You will need a car rider tag to pick up your child. These can be secured at our Meet and Greet in the hallways across from the gym or the first few weeks of school in the car rider line. We will come out with them each day before pick up begins at 3:10.
Here are some things I need all car rider families to do, which will help immensely.
- Please do not use Willard to line up for drop off or pick up. We are working with the police to get it blocked off, but in the meantime, please avoid it. Enter Hurd Road off of New Hudson and begin lining up there. Please see the map below for guidance.
- Parents are not permitted to get out of their car when dropping off or picking up their child(ren). It is one of the main reasons the flow of traffic slows down. If you need to do that, you must pull into a marked parking spot. Again, we ask you don't do it at all. We have plenty of staff available to help your child in or out safely.
- All students must exit their car on the passenger side of the vehicle. We understand this can be tricky with child locks and car seats, but it is in the best interest of all our car riders to have it be this way. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
- We are not permitting people to turn left into the school from Hurd Road. You will be asked to continue down Hurd, turn around and join the end of the line.
- We ask that you please respect the guidelines we have set up and follow them consistently. Everyone involved in the car rider process, staff and parents, thank you!
Student Medication Forms
If your child needs to take medication at school, please fill out the forms shown below and bring the medication to Craddock. Your child is not permitted to carry the medication in themselves. An adult must transport it.
If you have any questions at all, please call our main office at 330-562-3175 or Mrs. Courtad's school cell phone at 330-285-3714. You can call or text that number.
