Speculation, contemplation, and strangulation
– Winston Churchill
With the newest legislative session, educators have been exposed to a bevy of different bills that seem to be unfairly aimed at targeting our well being. This, inevitably, has caused a lot of speculation and contemplation that often times leads to strangulation or worry. What?!?! Not literally, strangulation..the word worry finds its origin in Old English and is derived from the word wyrgan, which literally means to strangle! Not surprising when we think of the visceral reaction that comes with excessive worrying! Thus, the quote above...I am not saying that there aren't potential cuts in education, obviously there are, what I am saying is that it is of the utmost importance that we not allow our speculation and contemplation to lead us to the point of strangulation...easier said than done, I know; however, we are in a profession where we are easily diverted from the worries of the world by serving our exceptional clientele, our students, who are so full of wonder, innocence, and potential that regardless of what is going on in Cheyenne, we will still educate these young people to the best of our ability, and for that, I thank you!
