Principal's Message
Monthly Message
Dear parents/guardians,
November was a very busy month at HES and we are looking forward to more of the same in December. We had a great turn out at Parent Teacher Conferences and appreciate the on-going support
from our families. A huge thank you to the Veterans who spent time with our students on Veterans' Day and to each of the families who donated to the Canned Food Drive. Once again, you have proven what a generous community we have at HES. As we head into Winter Break later this month, we hope our students and families are able to enjoy time with family and friends while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Sincerely,
Mr. Rush & Mrs. Seiler
Veteran's Day Lunch
Veteran's Day Lunch
On Friday, November 10, Hamilton Elementary School had 50 Veterans come and eat lunch with our students. These Veterans were parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends that joined us. The students really enjoyed sitting and eating lunch with our very important visitors. Our students also decorated the halls with pictures and letters to make the Veterans welcomed.
Our Busy Classrooms!
Greek Food Tasting - 2nd Grade
2nd grade did a Greek food tasting. They just finished up their Ancient Greece unit. They tried olives, feta cheese, hummus, fig newtons, olive oil and pita bread. In our greek knowledge strand, they talked about how Athena gave the people of Athens an olive tree and the Athenenians could have multiple uses out of the olives.
Library - Fisher
Mrs. Hajes's class turned in all of their library books!
Miss Edgington's class
Students read the story "Leaf Man" and then recalled the animals they saw in the story that were made out of leaves. After the discussion, they made their own leaf animals using leaves they had collected at home. Lastly the students completed a writing prompt about where their leaf animals would blow.
Kindergarten Parade
For Thanksgiving this year, Kindergarten held a Thanksgiving Parade! Each class decorated a balloon with a familiar character and paraded through the halls. Everyone had a great time!
Meet Our Teachers and Staff
Nancy Archer
Grade: K-3 Physical Education
Years Teaching: 27 years
Most Memorable Teaching Moment: I guess there are so many memorable moments it is hard to recall them. I just love to see the faces on my students when they realize that they have mastered a skill in physical education. Also, I love to hear when parents tell their kids that they had me as a PE teacher back in their elementary years and to see the looks on the little faces make me smile and melts my heart.
Favorite Teacher Growing Up: My favorite teaching growing up was my first grade teacher, Mrs. Staples. I just remember she was so caring and lovable to all of her students. I still have contact with her through social media.
Favorite Things (Favorite Restaurant): I am really boring when it comes to restaurants, because I like Roosters or Buffalo Wild Wings.
Fun Fact: I love to go 4-wheeling and do activities outside. I have also meet Dan Patrick, which is the Monster Truck driver for Samson.
Megan Matheny
Grade: Music
Years Teaching: I subbed for 3 years throughout Columbus and this year is my 1st year in my own classroom!
Most Memorable Teaching Moment: In my student teaching, I had a student with hand mobility limitations and we were starting to learn ukulele in her grade. I was able to find instructions to build a device that would allow her to strum the ukulele strings using her foot and my cooperating teacher's husband made the device for her. Seeing her for the first time use it and be able to play along with the rest of her classmates was so incredible and I will never forget her or that moment!
Favorite Teacher Growing Up:Mr. Lee Schreiner my 3rd and 4th grade gifted teacher! He was always challenging us to think outside the box and do our best. He cared so much about us as students and as people and I remember him having the coolest classroom. He had so many knick knacks and unique things he had collected over the many years he was a teacher, and he always had a story about why and how he got it. You could tell how much he cared about his students by talking with him and he is still a mentor for me to this day!
Favorite Things (Favorite Restaurant): Casa Jalisco Grill & Cantina in Hilliard!
Fun Fact: I can play all the instruments! Some not so well, but I can do it!
April Wilhite
Position: Paraprofessional for k/1 Cross Cat
Years Experience: This is my 17th year
Enjoy Most About Your Job: Bonding with the kids and watching them grow throughout the year. Also, my coworkers, I couldn’t do this job everyday without them.
Favorite Teacher Growing Up: Mr. Immel, my 9th grade biology teacher. He had a way of making you want to be in his class everyday. He could make each class different and interesting.
Favorite Things (Favorite Restaurant): Panda Express
Fun Fact:I love going to the beach and sitting and listening to the waves.

Ohio weather is so unpredictable, so please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for
outdoor recess. We want our students to be able to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Also, please
make sure your child's belongings are marked with their first and last name. Thank you to those families who picked up their child's belongings from our Lost & Found during Parent Teacher

ELL
Food Drive
Our 2nd and 3rd grade English Learners are learning about persuasive writing in Mrs. Case's class. They created some posters to hang up in our school that would encourage staff and students to participate in our district's Food Drive from November 27th-December 11th. They learned that together, we can help families who are in need.
Mission Statement
Every Ranger, Every Reason, Every Day!
EVERY RANGER. This phrase is meant to include everyone—every student, every staff member, every graduate and every community member. All of us working together.
EVERY REASON. The primary focus of every school system is the academic achievement of all students. Our staff and, by extension, our community take on the challenge of doing even more for our students. We educate the whole child. Whatever the need, whatever the issue, whatever the REASON we are going to work together and do the best we can for each other.
EVERY DAY. Thank you to our HLSD community for making our students a priority every day, and for always pitching in to help one another
