Lake Victoria
Lake Victoria is the largest lake in Africa and the chief reservoir to the Nile River. The lake, which lies mainly in Tanzania and Uganda, fills a shallow depression in in the great plateau that stretches between the western and eastern rift valley. Within 50 miles of it's shores live several million people. It is a freshwater lake with a wealth of fish.
The Atlas Mountains
The Atlas Mountains is a system of ranges and plateaus in Northwest Africa, extending 1,500 miles from Southwest Morocco through Algeria to North Tunisia. The Atlas Mountains are a climate barrier between the Mediterranean basin and the Sahara Desert. On the slopes facing north, it has well water, farm land, and forest. On the slopes facing south, there is shrubbery, salt lakes, and salt flats.
The Sahara Desert
The Sahara desert is the world's largest desert at 3,500,000 square miles. It stretches from the Atlantic ocean to the red sea. Regions of the dunes take up 15% of the desert. of the desert.
