Lemont Library Launch into STEM Partners with CITGO
This program will be designed to engage middle school students (ages 11-14) in hands-on, interest-based interaction with science education while inspiring creativity and curiosity. CITGO’s grant will enable us to equip our Teen STEM Lab with appropriate technology, including a 3-D printer and a zSpace: Virtual Reality Learning experience computer. Launch into STEM Learning will include open lab hours as well as bi-monthly programs planned and presented in collaboration with CITGO employees with science expertise. Programming and open lab hours will begin in January.
12 students will be accepted into the Launch into STEM program with the understanding that each student be able to attend the majority of the bi-monthly sessions. The weekly open lab sessions will be available for all students ages 11-14. Applications will be available November 1st, 2017 on Lemont Public Library’s website and we will begin accepting applications on November 15th, 2017. Educators are asked to inform their students about Launch into STEM and to encourage interested students to apply.
