Principal's Message
This is the last week of the first semester of the 2020-21 school year! Thank you for all of your support as we have navigated through these unknown times. Thank you for the grace you have given us as we have misstepped at times, but always had our students' best interests at heart. Thank you to our staff for the countless hours you have put in this semester to not only educate our students but keep their health at the forefront of your mind each day.
I know that I may sound like a broken record, but I have been blown away by our Baker families, students, and staff and their kindness and willingness to help whenever a need arises. This past week we ended our toy drive for GraceBridge, and the lobby was overflowing with toys! Our Baker Student Council worked hard to promote the drive and collect all of the toys. Every day I would see students bringing in toys with smiles on their faces because they were able to give to others.
We also started Junior Hope Squad this week with our first meeting. The fourth and fifth students selected for Junior Hope Squad were selected by their peers based on their willingness to listen and show kindness to others. I am so excited to start Junior Hope Squad at Baker and be able to continue to cultivate our culture of kindness, which entails encouragement, listening, and empathy.
We have exciting things planned this week for our students. We have dress-up days every day this week. The schedule is listed below. On Thursday, we will have our WInter Read Day- this will entail reading during the day, listening to staff members read classic books, and coding to celebrate this past week which included the Hour of Code. On Friday, we will have our Winter Party. Virtual learners can pick up their supplies from Baker Tuesday through Thursday. The virtual teachers have also communicated these times with their parents and students.
As always, please let us know if we fall short in communicating with you. We want this to be a partnership in order for your child to succeed!
Sincerely,
Ashley Gannon

COVID-19 Screener
If your child is learning in person, please make sure to go through the Screener questions each day. Here is the link to the Screener. If your child tests positive has been exposed to a COVID positive individual, or has one or more of the symptoms on the screening questionnaire, use the link at the bottom of the questionnaire to notify the school nurse and do NOT send your child to school until receiving clearance to return from the school nurse.
*If your child has a chronic condition that presents as one of the symptoms on the screening questionnaire, it is recommended that you contact the school nurse and your child's teacher about the chronic symptom so that both of these key school personnel are aware.
