UIW Art Show - March 25, 2022

Urban Zen Garden - Cooper Academy at Navarro

This collection of chimes, stacked art, ceramic bowls and bamboo fountain are reflections of nature and will be permanently placed in our Urban Zen Garden by our front entrance during the month of April.

The Urban Zen Garden will give both students and teachers an opportunity to connect with nature and find out how important it is to our lives and life in general.

The purpose of this Urban Zen Garden is to help our community connect, to give an opportunity to discover how quiet can focus our minds. The sound of dripping water in our water feature is meant to remind you to exist in the moment with each drip.

Also, this Urban Zen Garden represents negative space, or the nothingness that is essential to Zen meditation. It is more than just plants; it is the space between. Where nature does its thing in the decaying and growing.

When we leave this space, we take with us the knowledge that we can have an impact on the environment even in a small space. Which is an impact on our lives.

Our Urban Zen Garden and the art made for the garden was made possible by grants and donations by the following.

Parenting Corner

Welcome to the student parent corner where we will get to highlight some of the accomplishments of our School Age Parenting Program students!

Ever wonder what goes on at our PARENT GROUP every week? Every Thursday from 12pm-1pm, student parents are invited to meet other parents on campus and build a community. Group also provides the students with education that could help them improve their parenting skills.

Sometimes, local organizations come to group and offer incentives for attendance. These presenters include Parent Life, Latched Support, TX Diaper Bank, and The SA Public Library-Little Read Wagon.

Other group topics included: Self Care and Anger Management, Childhood Illness and First Aid, Child and Infant CPR, and so much more!

Thank you for your support with our SAPP students! Next month, we hope to highlight some of our student accomplishments and share even more exciting events.
