Week 3 is completed! The beginning of the year craziness is winding down. Oak Ridge JH/HS is in an effective and efficient routine. Students and teachers are settling in well and using class time to its fullest potential. Distractions in class are at a minimum especially with cell phones being put in the holders. Students are still doing a great job following the cell phone policy. I am beyond proud of the way our students and staff have become so efficient so quickly. Everyone jumped right in and got right to work. A huge shoutout to our support staff! They could not be working any harder!

Oak Ridge is a community with a long standing tradition of taking care of one another. I am no different and sometimes I need help too. You will notice every week I will need help with certain things around the school and I am looking for leaders and students that want to help make a positive impact on Oak Ridge Schools!

1. Cell phone policy. This week went great! Like I said earlier we had no issues with cell phones this week, so lets keep it up!
2. Respect. I want to make sure we are being respectful to our classmates and our teachers. Please step up and be a leader and ensure we are being respectful to everyone and ALL TIMES!
3. Walk to Lunch. Students please make sure you are walking to lunch. People are running over folks in the halls trying to be first to lunch. I understand everyone is hungry around lunch time (including me) but we all need to make it to lunch safely.

• If you take medications please make sure they are kept in the nurse's office. No students should be carrying medications on them at anytime at school!

Gavin is being recognized for going above and beyond. He is a cross county athlete, upstanding student, and helps with custodial tasks around the school. Gavin has been returning to school after cross country meets, practice, etc. to help clean up the new gym after home games. Thank you for your hard work and help around our campus Gavin!

Gavin is also Math's Star Student!

Alivia, a Senior at Oak Ridge, was selected as one of the top 10 All Tournament Team members at this years Woodland Invitational Volleyball Tournament. Congratulations to Alivia.

This week students cored tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes in the oven, made some
chili pepper, dehydrated peppers, made salsa, and canned some jelly. Thanks to Jess Fronabarger for her donation and ideas. See pictures below!
