W-2 Address Final Verification Reminder

Verify the address shown on your 01/10/20 pay stub is your current address. If the address is not current, log into Employee Self Service (ESS) and update your address (select 'Life Events' and then 'Move'). Unless you update your address by noon on Friday, January 24, the address shown on your 01/10/20 pay stub is what will print on your W-2.

To access ESS, you must be logged onto an HCPS computer. If you need information on logging into ESS, click on the following link DSS and ESS Instructions.

2019 W-2 Forms Information

W-2 forms will be placed in the courier on or before January 31, 2020, for calendar year 2019 wages.

Annually, the Finance Office provides an explanatory memo assisting employees to reconcile their final pay stubs for the year to the W-2 form and to answer frequently asked questions over the years. Click here to view the memo online or to print a hard copy of the memo if desired. Please print and share the memo with non-networked colleagues at your location.

GET More Program

Are you interested in becoming a teacher? The Growing Exceptional Teachers More (GET More) Program is a program that provides tuition reimbursement equivalent of the negotiated tuition reimbursement rate for instructional staff (currently $300 per graduate credit hour) for employees who are represented by HCESC or AFSCME. The purpose of this tuition reimbursement assistance is to allow program participants to complete a teacher certification program in a high needs area of teacher education, with the ultimate goal of receiving their teacher certification and returning to work as a teacher in HCPS. UPDATE: This program is open to employees who have been employed with HCPS for 1 or more years of service with HCPS. More information is available by clicking the provided link:

Center for Instructional Media

The HCPS Center for Instructional Media (CIM) is a professional library of books, databases, DVDs, sheet music, and other resources to support the instruction and professional development needs of our teachers, administrators, and staff. While the CIM is housed in the Forest Hill Annex, the collection can be browsed online, and materials are sent to patrons via the HCPS courier. Professional Development Opportunities Offered by Loyola University Maryland

Lauryn’s Law: This course meets the educational requirements outlined in Lauryn’s Law. Specifically, this course enhances the school counseling practitioners knowledge and skills to understand and respond to the social, emotional, and personal development of students, including knowledge and skills relating to: (1) the recognition of indicators of mental illness and behavioral distress, including depression, trauma, violence, youth suicide, and substance abuse; and (2) the identification of professional resources to help students in crisis. This course for school counselors provides a current, interactive overview of these skills and supports participants’ development/acquisition of a resource bank for distribution to parents or guardians, school staff, and students, as appropriate.

Spring 2020 Dates: February 10 - March 16
Cost: $350

CBT Approach to Bibliotherapy: Drawing from a CBT approach, practitioners learn to use literature to create a safe distance for young people to deal with issues related to self-regulation, anxiety, or chronic stress because of traumatic experiences. Literature and strategies for working with elementary and secondary students are explored along with the facilitation of coping strategies.

Spring 2020 Dates: March 23 - April 27
Instructional Format: Online
Cost: $350

Clinical Supervision I: Students seeking supervision hours toward a LCPC may participate in this group supervision experience. Students are expected to be working with clients and to bring cases to the supervision class for supervision, discussion, and problem solving. Students will utilize the required forms for supervision as outlined in state requirements for supervision experience. The focus of this supervision experience as case conceptualization and the development of treatment plans. A final written evaluation will be provided to each student to maintain in their records as required to document supervision.

Participants must have Maryland LGPC to enroll.

Spring 2020 dates: January 20, February 3 & 17, March 9 & 23, April 6 & 20, and May 4, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Cost: $650

New Paraprofessional and Inclusion Helper Training – January 17, 2020

The Department of Special Education is holding another New Paraprofessional and Inclusion Helper Training on January 17, 2020, at the Towson University Northeast (TUNE) building (510 Thomas Run Rd, Bel Air, MD 21015) from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Any new paraprofessionals or inclusion helpers who were unable to attend a previous New Paraprofessional Inclusion and Helper Training with Director of Special Education Michael Thatcher need to plan to attend this session. This training is mandatory for new paraprofessionals and inclusion helpers.
