Giving is Receiving
Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Romans 12:13 This is a lesson that is taught every day at St. Louis Catholic School. The students of SLS celebrated Catholic Schools Week Jan. 27-Feb. 2. During this week and throughout the school year, the students are taught to give to those in need spiritually, mentally, socially, and physically. This year the students held a food drive and collected much needed items for our local food pantry.
It was heart-warming to see the students' faces light up when they brought their items to the table of donations! They are receiving the gift of God's love in their hearts. Not only are they smiling, but they are making their neighbors in need smile. They were successful in bringing many items for our local families in need, and we are very proud of their efforts!

ALP (Alternative Learning Program) students present Rube Goldberg machines
On Tuesday, January 30th, all ALP students presented Rube Goldberg machines. This year's task was to pour a bowl of cereal for Rube's 30th anniversary of the competition. SLS had 7 teams....an all time high! The 3rd and 4th grades participated as apprentices and did a wonderful job. Grades 5-8 competed against one another with one grade level having two teams. The challenge of this task was that ALL machines were in the same room, so students had to work wisely (and secretively) in order to be successful.
Congratulations to the 8th grade for sweeping the house of awards. Not only did they win 1st place overall, but they were the 2018 Rube Goldberg Machine Contest Professor Butts' Creative Spark, Spirit of Hilarious Invention, and Helping Hand Teamwork winners. All the teams did an AWESOME job of creating some super engineered machines. Way to go teams!

7th and 8th St. Louis vs Sunman Dearborn Middle School
Last Thursday night the 7th and 8th grade Lady Cards traveled to EC in basketball. While the 7th grade didn't bring home a win the 8th did and both had great games.
The 7th grade Lady Cards had a final score of 15-38. Scoring were Megan Bauer with 8pts, Ryanna Phillips with 4pts, Teresa Wanstrath with 2pts, and Haley Geisen with 1pt. Defensively we struggled which led the Trojans to more points than we could hold them to. Overall a good game for SLS even with the loss.
The 8th grade Lady Cards had a final score of 22-20. This was a close game all the way through. At the half we were both 12-12. Scoring for SLS were Emma Weberding with 12pts, Olivia Raab with 4pts, and Alyssa Wanstrath, Lilly Wonnell and Faith Tekulve all scoring 2pts each. We played a great defensive game to hold them and offensively we were able to switch it up to score points. Nice jobs ladies.
