Causes of American Revolution
The American Revolution was a series of acts that the colonists did to the British. The colonists want to have their own freedom. So they did fight for freedom.
Navigation Acts
The colonists only could trade with the English or colonial ships. Certain items were only to be trade with the empire. The colonial manufacturing was slowing down, while the resentment was increasing in the mother country.
The Proclamation of 1763
After the French and Indian War the Proclamation of 1763 was created. To avoid more conflict with the Indians the proclamation was issued. But the colonists ignored the law.
The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was created to protect the colonies and to pay the debt of the French and Indian War. Samuel Adams created the Sons of Liberty to protest British policies. King George the 3rd repealed the Stamp Act.
Quartering Act
The colonists had to house and feed the British soldiers. But the colonists did not like to have stranded soldiers in their house. Also they lost their rights of their property. The British soldiers could have blank search warrants and still search the house.
Townshend Acts
The tea, glass, and paper was taxed with the Townshend Act. The Daughters of Liberty made their own cloth instead of buying some. The Sons of Liberty attacked British officials homes.
Boston Massacre
An angry colonist argued with a British soldier. And got worse and people got killed. Samuel Adams used this incident as propaganda. But John Adams was the lawyer for the soldiers.
Tea Act & Boston Massacre
The British East India Company was the only company to sell tea in the colonies. The colonists were still unhappy that they had to pay for the taxes although the tea price was lower. So some of the Sons of Liberty dressed up as American Indians and threw 342 crates of tea into the Boston Harbor.
Coercive Act (Intolerable Act)
Britain took control of the colony trades from Britain, no town meetings, and strengthening the Quartering Act. The other colonies brought goods from their colony. They called it the Intolerable Act.
