Kindergarten Registration -
Registration for 24-25 Kindergarten students has opened. Thanks for spreading the word and please continue to do so sharing the information below.
School starts at 8:15. Any child who arrives after that time is considered tardy. Please make sure to plan your morning so that your children arrive before 8:15. We do offer breakfast as early as 7:35 and walking club begins at 7:55 if you need to utilize one of those services to ensure your child is ready to learn at 8:15.

Cold Weather Reminder - We will go outside for Walking Club and recess if the real feel is above 10 degrees. Please make sure kids have proper cold weather gear before they leave in the morning. If you need assistance with winter clothes please reach out and we will do what we can to help. Please do as I say and not as a I do because oftentimes my own boys do not have proper gear for the weather! :)
There will be some times when we go outside with snow on the ground. Only kids with boots and snow gear will be allowed to go into the snow.

PTO Board Nominations
PTO Board Nominees for Arbor View Elementary
Nominations for 2023-2024 PTO Board are being accepted now through 5:00pm April 1st. Election will take place at the April 1st, 7pm PTO Meeting.
Please note the Vice President Position will be vacated for next year and the current President is looking for someone to train for future years. Please consider being a part of this organization.
Positions for Election:
a. President. The president shall preside over meetings of the organization and executive board, serve as the primary contact for the principal, represent the organization at meetings outside the organization or appoints another member of the executive board, serve as an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee, and coordinate the work of all the officers and committees so that the purpose of the organization is served.
b. Vice President. The vice president shall assist the president and carry out the president’s duties in his or her absence or inability to serve. ENCUMBANT WILL BE VACATING.
c. Secretary. The secretary shall keep all records of the organization, take and record minutes, prepare the agenda, handle correspondence, and send notices of meetings to the membership. The secretary also keeps a copy of the minutes book, bylaws, rules, membership list, and any other necessary supplies, and brings them to meetings.
d. Treasurer. The treasurer shall receive all funds of the organization, keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures, and pay out funds in accordance with the approval of the executive board. He or she will present a financial statement at every meeting and at other times of the year when requested by the executive board, and make a full report at the end of the year.

24-25 Kindergarten Registration
If you have a child who will attend kindergarten during the 2024-2025 school year (students must be at least 5 years of age by July 31, 2024, to attend Kindergarten), please register them beginning the week of January 22, 2024, on the District Website (www.elkhornweb.org). When you register your child on the District website, we will use the email address in that registration to communicate Kindergarten Round-up information and details with you.
Additionally, any K-12th grade student not currently enrolled in an EPS school, with a planned start date prior to May 23, 2025, should visit https://www.elkhornweb.org/parents/new-students/ to register for the 2024-25 year school.
Parent/Teacher Conference Scheduling
The online scheduler will be open at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28th and will close at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, February 11th. Conferences will be Tuesday, 2/13/24 or Wednesday, 2/14/24.

3. Where is asks for Student ID, enter your child’s first and last name. Use their legal name (Example: Addilyn Smith). Next, enter the student’s birthday (12/01/2010).
Scheduling
1. Each colored square represents an available meeting time. The key shows you what each color means. Click on a square to book that time.
2. You will be given a choice of setting a time when you would like to have an email reminder delivered to you.
3. Click Create Appointment to finalize.
4. You cannot create back to back appointments unless your children have the same classroom teacher.
5. Repeat until you have a time scheduled for each of your children. Logout when finished.
Notes
At any time, you can click on printable schedule and print the resulting webpage to get a hard copy of your schedule. You will also have the option to email your schedule to yourself.
Click on Your Schedule to display your appointments. There will be links to change the time or cancel your appointment.
You can change your appointment time through February 11th. You will need to login with the email and password that you used to create your account.

Visitor Guidelines
Visitor Guidelines
At Arbor View as well as all school buildings, the doors will remain locked during the school day, and all visitors will gain access using the security camera/access panel outside of the school’s main entrance. Office staff will grant access after you do the following steps:
Push the button and wait for an identification request.
Give your name and purpose for entering the school.
When you hear the door unlatch, enter and proceed to the office.
Sign in on the visitor sheet and take a visitor sticker/badge.
When leaving the building, return to the office and sign out and place your sticker in the trash can.
If you have brought something that your child has forgotten, please drop it off at the office, we will be happy to take it to your child. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us to minimize classroom interruptions.

Hello Arbor View Families!
Thank you so much again for supporting the art room fundraiser. I have gotten a few emails about placing late and additional orders! If you would like to download additional pieces of art that come home throughout the year, you can always add those to your account and order through the month of July! Arbor View's art room will benefit and earn money on those orders!
What does the money go toward?? Consumable art supplies! Things are expensive and need to be replaced often: crayons, markers, paint, pencils and erasers, glue sticks, drawing paper and cardstock! In addition, I am saving for a hanging system for our building to make my life easier to display artwork! It is a win/win!

In Attendance
Shawna Michener called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. The following PTO board members were in attendance: Troy Sidders, Principal, Shawna Michener, President, Angie Ballard, Vice President, Alison Johnson, secretary and Tracy Connor, Board Treasurer.
The following parents and teachers were also present: Angie Mundil, parent and 2nd grade teacher, Andrea Steffes, parent, Nichole Montgomery, parent, Andrea Olson, parent, Amy Thompson, parent, and Rachel Gilmore, parent, were also present.
The PTO minutes from November 2023, were distributed and read. It was moved by Nichole Montgomery, seconded by Angie Ballard, to approve the minutes as read. All those present unanimously approved the motion.
Principal’s Report & School News
Dr. Sidders reported on school news. The school cancellations and bitter cold has been tough – but he thanked parents for braving the cold to send the kids back to school today. Parent teacher conference sign-ups will go out soon. He asked about the poster maker. It needs repair. Shawna and Tracy reviewed the budget, and it looks like PTO has $500 budgeted for repair. Angie Mundil has a neighbor that might have a connection to fix the poster maker. She will check on it.
Treasurer’s Report
Tracy reviewed the treasurer report. Total income was $926.84, total expenses were $3,060.09. Expenses mainly consisted of Fun Run incentives and Spooktacular. Total money is $76,296.25. It was moved by Angie Mundil, seconded by Amy Thompson, to approve the Treasurer Report as read. All those present approved the motion.
Committee Reports
· Directory
o Shawna discussed the directory; maybe next year we will implement the Membership Toolkit directory. The challenge is getting parents to participate. The password for the Directory is Sidders21.
· Yearbook Committee
o Becky is still accepting pictures for the yearbook. please send pictures to Becky, she really needs pictures. Shawna will check and see which grades and classes really need pictures. If anyone would like to help Becky, contact her at yearbook.arborview@gmail.com.
· Staff Appreciation Week
o Staff Appreciation - Nichole Montgomery said April 8 - 12th, 2024 will be the dates of Staff Appreciation Week.
· Spirit Wear
o Spirit Wear – nothing to report.
· Woot Woot Wagon
o Woot Woot Wagon - Shawna will do it again at the end of January. If anyone would like to help, please contact her.
· Kindness Committee
o Kindness Committee – nothing to report.
Fun & Fundraisers
· Fun Run
o Update – This was a success and Shawna just has a few items to still fulfill – like lunch outside. These will be in the spring when the weather is better.
· Family Formal will be Friday, February 9th, 2024.
o Angie said we need someone to take pictures at Family Formal. Please contact her if you are interested.
· Valentines Parties will be Friday, February 9th, 2024.
o Teachers will have kids pre-pass valentines out. For party leaders: take pictures, craft, snack, and game.
· Family Bingo Night will be Friday, March 8th, 2024.
o This year we need to make sure that only kids are winning. Bingo cards will be just for kids.
· Carnival will be Friday, May 3rd, 2024. Jessica Moses and Sarah will co-chair with Alison & Molly. Molly has been in contact with Fun Services and Alison has been in contact with the pony rides.

o TAGG - Please Tagg receipts. In December Arbor View made $138.34 from TAGG.
· Dining Nights
o Dining Nights - We earned a good amount of money from Panda Express and Red Robin during the last Dining Night. Feb. 20th is the next Dining Night and will be Don and Millie’s from 5-8 p.m.
· Teacher Meal Organizer – Shawna Michener will coordinate the next teacher meal during conferences which will be Dragon Wok.

New Business - elections are coming up soon, we need to nominate people for next year. Elections will be in April. If you are interested, please let Angie Ballard know.

We are excited to announce that business registration for the inaugural Elkhorn Public Schools Career Fair, scheduled for March 27, 2024, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, is now open. This event will be an excellent opportunity for students to explore business industries and make meaningful career connections, while also showcasing the commitment of local organizations to community involvement. Secondary TA: assist with general and special education students in grades 6-12 in the areas of small and large group academic work, academic interventions, student supervision, and basic clerical duties.

English Learner TA: assist students who have limited English proficiency by supporting EL services under the direction of a certified regular education teacher.

News from the Nurse
⁓Physical and Immunization Requirements⁓
Nebraska law requires that all school children have a physical examination upon entry into school, at seventh grade, and when transferring from an out-of-state school. Students must also provide proof of a visual evaluation to include testing for amblyopia, strabismus, internal and external eye health and visual acuity upon entry into school and when transferring from an out-of-state school. The law also requires your child be immunized and provide proof of immunization before attending classes. All 7th grade students are required to have a Tdap vaccine. Please visit this link: Summary of the School Immunization Rules and Regulations to view specific vaccine requirements for the age of your child. If you have not turned in your Kindergarten, 7th grade, or new out-of-state student’s paperwork, please do so ASAP.
⁓Medication Policy⁓
If your student requires any medication (over-the-counter and/or prescription) while at school, each medication must have a Medication Authorization Form signed by the parent and a physician before we can administer. All medications must be unexpired and provided in the original packaging and/or pharmacy container. For prescription medications, please only provide a maximum of 30 day supply at a time. All medication must be dropped off in the office by a parent or guardian. Please do not send any medications with your student. Also, if you believe your student is capable of managing their own inhaler or epi pen while at school, here is the link for the Self-management Of Asthma and Severe Allergy (Anaphylaxis) at School Consent/release form.
⁓Students with Asthma, Severe Allergies, Diabetes, and/or Seizures⁓
If your child has asthma, severe allergies, diabetes, and/or seizures, and you have not yet done so, please submit an Action Plan signed by your physician. Plans must be updated annually.
⁓Sick Child Policy⁓
Just a reminder to monitor your child for symptoms of illness and to keep them home if they have any of the following: fever >100.0, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, head lice, eye infection. Students must be free of these conditions for 24 hours before returning to school.

Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures - All Students (K-5) will be dropped off at the front of the building
- Students should begin exiting vehicles once the vehicle has pulled as far forward as possible
- Staff will be outside to assist with drop off and pick up, please pay attention to signals on where to pull up and when to move forward
- Drivers are to stay inside the vehicle at all times in the drop-off/pick-up lane
- Students should enter and exit the vehicle curbside
- Students should use the crosswalk to cross to the parking lot. They should never cross in front of traffic in the drop-off lane.
- Please wait your turn in line and do not cut the line to make a drop-off or to pick them up (everybody is here for the same goal and same reason, please be mindful and respectful of that)
- If your child is unable to unbuckle/buckle themselves, please practice at home. This is a skill they need to be able to do independently.
- Please be patient and a positive role model for our children. These procedures are in place to help maintain a safe and respectful environment.
- It is unlawful to park in a handicap stall without proper licensing.
- For safety purposes, pets are not allowed to be brought at the beginning or ending of the school day. Pets, even when on a leash, can become excited and frighten students.
Traffic Flow
Traffic in the right lane should pull forward if there is space available. Children can be dropped off anywhere along the sidewalk as long as they get out on the curbside.
We expect all drivers to be courteous and to follow the established rules of the road in and around Arbor View Elementary.
Please make sure to share this with anybody who may be dropping off and/or picking up your children.
