The Principal's Nest
Parent Edition- November
1st Quarter Closed
If you are having any concerns about your child's progress for this school year, now would be the time to get involved and speak with your child's teacher. During our curriculum night, parents had the opportunity to visit classrooms to sign up for parent-teacher conferences. If you could not attend, please visit our school website for the entire slideshow and a video of the presentation. If you'd like to sign up for a confer3ence with your child's teacher, please reach out and contact them.
Student-led conferences are coming up for 3rd grade this month, and 4th grade conferences were extremely successful last week.
Thank You
Annual Movie Night

We'd love to see you there!
Volunteering at West View
There are 2 levels of volunteers:
Level 1: A Level 1 Volunteer requires only the approval of the school principal and does not require a criminal records background check. A Level 1 Volunteer is intended for activities that do not involve direct and independent supervision of students. Such activities include, but are not limited to: field trips, clerical work, resource speaker, outdoor projects, PTA fundraisers/activities, athletic concessions, room parent, field day volunteer, school fair, or working with small groups of students while supervised by a school employee.
Level 2: A Level 2 Volunteer requires principal approval as well as a criminal records background check and district approval. Level 2 approval is at the discretion of District Administrators. A Level 2 Volunteer is intended for activities that include, but are not limited to: tutors who directly supervise students, field trip or dance chaperones, coaches, mentors, or any other activity where a volunteer is directly and independently responsible for supervising students.
It take a village!
1. Hitting/ Horseplay- We are sitting an increase in hitting and pushing of other students. When asked about why they did it, most students say "I was just playing" or "we are friends" . I try to let students know that friends don't hit.
2. Football at recess. I'm a HUGE fan of football (NFL mostly) but we encourage our young men and ladies not to play during recess. We have noticed some are pushing too hard for "two hand touch" So if you see a football being put into their bookbags, just kindly take it out =)
