Eastside: One Team, One Dream
"We never lose. We either win or we learn. - Nelson Mandela
Week of January 27
Our mission is to build a strong educational foundation while meeting the unique needs of our students.
Eastside's Vision
Working in partnership with the community, Eastside Elementary will provide all students:
A collaborative team of professionals who are committed to improve their practices, so that all students learn at high levels
A safe, positive, and inviting learning environment
An engaging and challenging curriculum focused on essential academics and life skills
Individualized and timely support that provides students with what they need to succeed
Eastside Field of Dreams: If you build it, they will come!!!!
I can't take credit for the inspiration this week! This one comes from Mr. Hope! I have continued to reflect back to what all of you wanted when I interviewed you individually three years ago. You wanted Eastside to be the place to be. You wanted Eastside on the map for the right reasons. You wanted to be the team that people came to watch! Well, you all have built it and people are coming. The Model PLC application is underway and it is exciting to think of getting this recognition and literally having our school in a star on the world map for a place for people to come and see the PLC process alive and well! Watch this clip below and get excited about people coming! Not to brag on yourselves, but to brag on the right work we all have done to see students succeed! ONE TEAM ONE DREAM!
Be aware of the importance of each day!

Much Love for Hattie during the month of love
In February, you will get to have some choice in which strategies you want to use and when. The requirement is to get 5 in a column. There are 4 weeks in February so you only have 4 strategies in a column. In your lesson plans in February, you will state "We Love Hattie" and then list your strategy and what content will be with this. I will be placing a copy of the Hattie board in your box this week. I want you to post it in your room so your kids see that you are using Hattie and they can get excited about when ya'll can mark one off the board.
Again the 5 in a column is the requirement. If you want to also do one of the rows going across without a heart free space, you will get a drink of your choice at the end of February.
If you choose to cover your board and do all 12 strategies in the month, you will get your drink of choice, a chance to win a $25 gift card and a chance to win having your class covered for 30 minutes by admin.

Please make sure to have lesson plans out on your desk and reading lesson plans on your reading table each day. Your reading plans need to be a week's worth of complete plans that are ready on your first day of instruction. We understand that you may adjust things, but the plans must be thoroughly thought out for the week prior to the week starting.
Read as One Book - This week we are reading chapters 13-14. Make sure to place this on your newsletter each week. Encourage parents to send pictures of their kids reading so we can post on social media.
We need PICTURES to post on social media! Please make sure you send pictures to Mrs. Krogman and myself of all the great things happening in your rooms with a small description of what is happening in the photo. Feel free to have a kid take a few so you will be in some of the photos. We want to brag on all the great things that kids are learning.
If you would like to be featured in the newsletter, feel free to send me a blurb about the HATTIE strategy you are using in your room.
P/T conference notices to parents need to be sent out no later than February 3rd. (As always we will have these prepared and placed in your boxes for February 3rd.)
February 11th and 13th are early release days. Secondary P/T conferences are on Tuesday and Elementary on Thursday.
