What's Going on in the Counseling Office?
We are in full swing of the 2019-2020 school year and it has been great seeing all the Vikings back in action! There are many changes happening not only in the Counseling Department but schoolwide including new administration, different school counselor caseloads, and Rotating Block/Unit lunch schedule. Information regarding these changes can be found throughout this Newsletter or the PHHS website.

New Principal and Vice Principal
Dr. Matthew Thompson is our new Principal who has spent the last 8 years serving as Vice Principal at Hunterdon Central High School. He has also served many other roles including teacher, coach, alternative school coordinator, and instructional technology coordinator. In his free time, he enjoys reading nonfiction novels, traveling with his family, and watching the New York Yankees and New Orleans Saints on TV.
Mr. Christian Keegan is a familiar face in the Parsippany-Troy Hills District as he recently served as the Assistant Principal at Brooklawn. This is his 7th year in Parsippany, however his 18th year as an educator. He served as a teacher, discipline coordinator, and coach in Union City before his time in Parsippany. He enjoys reading and participating in charities including the Polar Bear Plunge for the Special Olympics of NJ. We welcome him back to the Hills and are very happy to have him!
We are appreciative to have these two onboard the Viking ship and encourage all students to meet them when they have the chance!
Rotating Drop Schedule/Unit Lunch
The Unit Lunch block is also a success! Students are free to roam the hallways, eat in various locations including the cafeteria, gym, and the outdoor patios. There are now also more food line options from students to choose from and they have a whole 50 minutes to eat, talk with friends, see teachers, or visit their school counselor. Students should use this time effectively and productively so they do not miss class time.
