Principal's Message
Dear Fammatre Families,
It is hard to believe this is the final Fammatre Newsletter of 2020. In so many ways this has probably been one of the most difficult years many of us have faced. In education we have saying about “honoring the struggle” as that is when students are truly learning. There is no doubt in my mind that we have all learned a great deal this past year.
As I reflect back, the most important thing I have learned is that we as a community have the collective power and determination to overcome adversity. I feel so fortunate to be riding out this storm with such a dedicated and caring group of students, families, and staff. Thank you for your continued partnership. Thank you for continuing to support each other.
If you have not already, please take time to read this Important Update from Dr. Andrews that was sent out earlier today regarding instruction when we return to in person learning. As a reminder, there will be a special Board Meeting on Thursday, January 7th. Additionally, I will be hosting a Principal Coffee on January 12th at 4pm to answer questions and provide additional information on Fammatre’s reopening plan.
I hope everyone has a peaceful and rejuvenating winter break. I wish you all great health and happiness in the year to come!
Warm wishes,
Jackie Smith
Principal

Giving Campaign 2020
Giving Campaign ends 12/31/20 - Thanks to all!
Thank you Fammatre Families for your support of all our Fammatre Falcons this year! We have reached 51% of our fund raising goal, raising $22,825. All of that money is going directly back to our Fammatre students in support of classroom supplies and to keep our Makerspace program going.
We will be ending the official Giving Campaign fund raising efforts at the end of the year. If you haven't had a chance to make a donation yet, please see below and the HSC website for the different ways you can donate. If you have any questions, please contact me at sjfamily4D@gmail.com. Thank you for your support!
Lacy Derringer

Fammatre Students Need Your Support
Dear Fammatre Community,
Please join us and sign a letter of support for the "Support Our Students" land development initiative to help PROTECT STUDENT PROGRAMS. Due to chronic state underfunding, declining enrollment, and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cambrian School District is facing a budget deficit.
Thirty seconds of your time can help generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in ongoing, annual revenue without increasing taxes in the community.
Since early 2019, the District has been assessing potential district-owned land development opportunities to create additional on-going, annual revenue to sustain our award-winning programs.
Please, share this information with your family and friends. Everyone is welcome to voice their support.

Read-A-Thon Winter Break Hid & Seek
Be on the lookout around the outside of the Fammatre campus beginning next week. The Read-A-Thon committee will be “hiding” pictures of Hobbie and his friends around the Cambrian campuses starting 12/21. If you find a Hobbie take a photo with him and submit the pictures at cefreadathon@gmail.com. Photos will go in to a drawing for a chance to win a take home Hobbie.
Reminder: Bingo Cards are due January 8th.
CEF Read-A-Thon Bingo
- Students can fill out by getting 5 in a row or filling the entire card.
- Once you have filled in 5 in a row or the entire card, you may turn in your Read-A-Thon Bingo Cards. You may scan and email them to Mrs. Perry (perryc@cambriansd.com) who will print them out. Or we have a table with an envelope outside the front office door in the breezeway where you can drop off your paper copies when completed.
- Students who complete and turn in the card will have their names added to a drawing for a prize.
- CEF will pickup cards weekly beginning in December. The last day to turn in bingo cards will be Friday, January 8th. (This is one week before the read-a-thon ends.).
Keep up the great daily reading!

Support Cambrian Students
YOU CAN HELP SUPPORT CAMBRIAN STUDENTS AND ENDORSE CAMBRIAN LAND DEVELOPMENT
The Cambrian School District has been in the process of assessing potential land redevelopment of District-owned properties as a new ongoing revenue stream to support our students, programs, and District. After evaluating multiple options, we identified the Metzler Elementary School at Cambrianna Drive as a promising opportunity to convert a portion of this site into an ongoing revenue stream. The proposed development matches and complements the character of the neighborhood.
The proposed housing development project for the Cambrian School district will generate ongoing revenue that will support CSD’s outstanding programs.
Please join Cambrian parents, teachers, and neighbors and click here to sign a letter of support asking the City of San Jose to approve the District’s general plan amendment application.
For more information about the Cambrian School District’s “Support Our Students” land development initiative, please check out our webpage or contact former Cambrian School District parent Eve Walton at SOSCambrianSchoolDistrict@gmail.com. Stay informed on the Initiative, please sign up for our mailing list by clicking here.
Free School Meal Services
Cambrian continues to offer free breakfast and lunch at Price Middle. Meals are available for pickup at Price Middle School, Monday through Friday from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Daily service provides lunch for that day and breakfast for the following day. Friday meal services also provide breakfast and lunch for Saturday and Sunday and breakfast for Monday or during holiday breaks. These are free to every child aged 18 and younger. You do not need to show any ID and children do not need to be present to receive meals. Applications to apply for subsidized meal programs are available online at https://family.titank12.com.
These applications not only provide access to much-needed benefits for our families; they also serve as a data point used to generate additional revenues we rely on as a District. For this reason, we encourage all of our families to complete the application process even if they may not elect to participate in the meal program. This will ensure we are maximizing our revenue opportunities which will allow us to continue offering excellent educational programs that make us Cambrian. We look forward to continuing to serve our students and provide an important home to school link for our students.
