Sincere Thanks to Families

School Decorating

"I wanted to express my most sincere gratitude to the parents and students who have come together to make the Christmas season at St. Stan's more joyous over the past week. Our school has really come to life with all of the festive decorations around the building. It has definitely made our school look more inviting than it already is. None of this happens without the energy, enthusiasm, and support of our parents for whom I am extremely grateful."

-- Mr. Vickman

Las Posadas & Tree Lighting

"Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped make Las Posadas and our Tree Lighting celebration an amazing event. A special thank you to all families who volunteered to provide homemade tamales and hot chocolate. Thank you to our Santa, who made this a very memorable experience for our students and families. Thank you to our set up and clean up crews. Finally, a thank you to the 4th grade and choir students for their amazing performances!"

-- Ms. Riley

Gentle Reminders

Christmas Concert - Change of Date

Due to some scheduling conflicts and our desire to have as many students present for the class Christmas Concert at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, we have decided to move the concert to Wednesday, December 15 at 6pm. I know that changes like this may cause some conflicts and for that, I apologize. Please contact our office if you have any further questions regarding this schedule alteration.

Dollar Dress Down Day on Monday

To celebrate St. Nick's Day, students can leave their uniform at home and dress-down in their most festive holiday attire. We only ask that they bring $1 to school to take advantage of the privilege. The money raised will go towards hosting other fun events for the students throughout the year.

Vaccination Cards

If your child has been vaccinated or when they receive their second vaccination shot, please make sure to submit a copy of their vaccination card to Mrs. Abby Torres ( in the main office. Please know that this information will only be used for the following reasons:

  1. Considering the quarantine of a student due to a close contact with a positive Covid-19 case in the building.
  2. As proof that the child does not need a negative Covid-19 test should they be returning from an orange state as designated by the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois.

Donor Challenge: Tax Credit Scholarship Match

We have been blessed with a wonderful opportunity that has the potential to help many families at our school. The Big Shoulders Fund has been contacted by a generous donor who is making a "challenge grant" for gifts to the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program. This donor has said that for every $1 donated to the TCS program, they will match with their own $3 donation.

Please note that donations cannot just be made to Big Shoulders Fund, St. Stanislaus Kostka Academy, or St. Stanislaus Kostka Church for the match to occur. You must go through the TCS program process to take advantage of the match. I have attached some information to this email which can assist you in completing the process if you are unfamiliar with it. Additionally, I plan on having a representative from Big Shoulders give a presentation to our community on how we can best take advantage of this amazing opportunity.

Please know that in addition to supporting our mission to provide a rigorous, Catholic education for anyone seeking it, you can receive a financial benefit as a result of your generosity. Illinois taxpayers may apply 75% of their contribution as a tax credit against their Illinois income tax bill. If, for example, you made a $1000 contribution, you will receive a $750 tax credit. The deadline for these donations to the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship program is December 31, 2021.

I encourage you to give what you can and to share this information with others who may be willing to participate as well. Together, we can make sure that St. Stan's Academy continues to challenge all students to achieve academic and social excellence, lead by action and example, and to serve and love God through others.

Tax Credit Scholarships for 2022-23

January will be a very important month for any family hoping to receive tuition assistance from the Big Shoulders Fund or Empower Illinois. Both of those organizations offer Tax Credit Scholarships which often cover the entire tuition of a student in grades Kindergarten through 8th. These scholarships are determined, however, on a first come first serve basis and are very competitive.

The information below is from Big Shoulders and details several opportunities for how you can prepare for their TCS application process which opens on January 13. Please take advantage of these preparation opportunities and reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Schools and families are invited to join one of our Tax Credit Scholarship Information Zoom Sessions. These sessions will outline the application process, show a sample application, and help schools and families prepare for steps one and two of the Big Shoulders Fund application. There will be separate Zoom links for English and Spanish.

Tax Credit Scholarship Information Zoom Sessions:

  • December 9 at Noon
  • December 16 at 7 pm
  • December 23 at Noon
  • January 6 at 7 pm
  • January 11 LIVE Q&A at 7 pm

Families can practice the application during our APPLICATION SNEAK PEAK from December 17, 2021 through December 26, 2021. We will send families a special link when the Sample Application opens and they can practice in preparation for application day.

Do not forget that everyone must reapply each year.
