The Leopard Tale
November-2019
Principal's Points
Happy Fall! As we approach the season of Thanksgiving, I am most grateful for our parents, volunteers, community members, and Andre’ staff, who share in our efforts to lead, develop and educate our super hero Leopards. We want to thank the Foundry church for providing a luncheon for our staff and for supporting many of our students through mentoring, baseball, and holiday season treats.
Our kiddos had fun showing off at “Bring Your Parent to School” day, Pre-K students loved celebrating Donuts with Dads last week, and both third and fifth graders enjoyed a fantastic field trip to the Nature Trails. We were proud to see so many students participating in College week and Red Ribbon week this month, while an entire pumpkin patch of book characters visited the library.
With Super Hero Day as our culminating celebration in October, we reminded the students that no matter the cape we wear, we are all super heroes on the inside, with the power to be kind to others and spread joy always. Our upcoming opportunity to demonstrate our super powers is through a donation drive to honor and support those serving in the military. With Veterans’ Day approaching, we want all students to participate in a meaningful experience to understand the importance of recognizing our Veterans. Thank you for encouraging our Leopards and partnering with us to create such a successful year for our Super Hero Leopards. Up, up, and away!!!
Important Information
Andre’ Welcomes Ready! Set! Teach!
Andre’ has been chosen once again by Cy-Springs High School as a partner school for the Ready! Set! Teach! Program. This program allows high school students interested in teaching, an opportunity to experience life in the classroom first hand.
These Cy-Springs students have been paired with Andre’ teachers who will serve as mentors. As part of the program, the students will observe best teaching practices in action from their mentor, and will apply what they have learned by teaching lessons to our students.
Students helping students, what a wonderful opportunity for our community!

No Place for Hate
Andre’ is a No Place For Hate Campus! Here is our Resolution of Respect/Pledge that all students and staff sign each year. Please discuss it as a family, sign it, and email a picture of your family signing it to jessica.hooper@cfisd.net . We appreciate your support in keeping Andre’ a bully-free campus!
Counselors' Corner
The Core Essential Value for November is Honor. Honor is letting someone know you see how valuable they really are.
Ask your student to think of people in their life who are valuable to them. For example: parents, teachers, coaches, preachers or friends. What are some ways you can show these people that you see how valuable they are?
Horizons: Nominations are open until Nov. 30. Please email Jessica Hooper (counselor) if you would like more information. Jessica.hooper@cfisd.net
Credit-By-Exam: For more information please email Brian Finnerty (counselor). Brian.Finnerty@cfisd.net

Notes from the front desk
Lunch Visitors
Please limit your lunch visits with your child to one time per week. We have close to 1000 students and want to make sure we have space for all parents who would like to eat lunch with their children. A note is required from a guardian for anyone other than a guardian to have lunch with your child.
Absences
If your child is absent, please send a note on the first day of your child’s return to school stating the reason for the absence. Thank you.
Transportation Changes
If a child’s end-of-day transportation changes, the parent/guardian must send a note with the date, necessary changes and parent/guardian signature. If a note is not received, the usual method of transportation will be followed.
For safety purposes, no changes will be made after 3:30 P.M. and PHONE CALLS or E-MAILS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.

Box Tops for Education
Each Student’s Goal= 10 Box Tops in November!
Did you know that Andre’ receives 10₵ for every General Mills Box Tops for Education we collect? As you are preparing for the holidays, and throughout the year, please remember to scan your receipts for Box Tops from participating products. Please see the flyer below for information on how to download the app and scan receipts.
You can still send in box top clips and certificates in a bag, or envelope to your child's teacher.
If each student turns in 10 box tops, our school will earn over $1,100! Wow!
PTO
Hello Andre’ Families!
Thank you so much for all the support! We currently have 155 families registered as members of the PTO. We are trying to get 100% participation. Let’s make it happen Andre’!
Volunteers are essential to any successful PTO, but as a member, you are not obligated to attend meetings or volunteer. By joining the PTO, your $15 membership fee, as well as funds raised from fundraising, spirit nights, donations and volunteer hours, goes towards classroom parties, buses for field trips, STEM programs, Family Fun Nights, teacher grants and our newest project for 2019- some NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT. Please consider joining the PTO! Joining the PTO also allows us to build our partnership between the community, families and Andre’ staff. We look forward to the continued support from returning families and meeting all the new Andre’ Elementary School families.
Below you will find information of upcoming events and ways for you to get involved. Please feel free to reach out to the PTO Board if you have any questions or if you would like to become a member.
Sincerely,
