First Day of School

Wednesday, August 11th, is the first day of school and is a modified day. School for all students (TK-5) will be from 8:55-1:00 pm. Students in our Preschool program will attend from 8:30-12:30.
Please note: we will not be accepting requests for teacher/classroom changes for the first two weeks of school.

How do I find out who my student has for a teacher?

You are able to find your child's teacher by logging into Infinite Campus and selecting the "schedule" tab. The room number will be indicated as well. Please see the campus map below to help locate your child's classroom and nearest entrance gate. Parents will be allowed to walk their child to the outside door on the first day of school. Only students are allowed inside the classroom.


If you have not completed your Returning Student registration, including uploading two (2) proofs of residency, your student will not be showing up in a class.

Will students need to wear masks?

Yes, at this time, all students and employees are required to wear masks while indoors. Please send your student to school with a mask.


Masks are not required when outdoors. This includes: recess, lunch, PE, transition times, and any learning opportunities provided in an outdoor setting.

Qualtrics Daily Screening - UPDATED

Students are still required to complete the Daily Health Screening through Qualtrics that was implemented last school year. Each morning your student will be receiving an email to complete the survey. Please get back into the habit of completing this screening every morning.

Will there be normal recess and lunch?

Yes! Students will participate in recess and lunch, which have always been outdoors unless there is inclement weather. Students will have access to all play equipment and structures.

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

TK-5

Arrival:

Gates will open at 8:40 am. Parents will be allowed on campus the first day of school only to help your child navigate to his/her classroom. You may walk your student to the outside classroom door. Only students are allowed inside the classrooms. There will be staff members available to help you find classrooms. Students will go directly to their classroom the first day. Teachers will show them where to meet them each day after. The warning bell will be at 8:50. Gates will close promptly at 8:55. If a student arrives after 8:55, they will need to go to the front office for a tardy slip.


All Kindergarteners will enter the school through the gate in the front (to the right of the flag pole). All other students will enter through one gate in the back (by the bike racks) or through the main gate in the front (up the pathway and stairs).


Dismissal:

Students who are being picked up in the front loop will be asked to remain in their grade-level area or with their sibling and watch for their car. If your student is walking home, they can meet you in a pre-determined location at the park across the street, by the marquee, or at the end of the main parking lot (near the dumpsters). Please practice this with your student prior to the first day of school.


Additional Information:

Unaccompanied 3rd-5th grade students are free to ride their bikes to school, but they must wear a helmet. The bike racks are located off the bus loop, near Room 18. They need to walk their bikes while on the school campus. Students are not allowed to ride skateboards or motorized scooters.


Parents, please do not bring dogs on campus when you drop off or pick up your students. TVUSD has a strict policy regarding animals on campus that are not trained support animals.

We encourage you to walk to school on the first day of school if possible. Parking is limited.

Device Requests - UPDATED

All students will check out textbooks during the first week of school. New students who do not have an iPad will check one out at this time. If you would like your child to bring their device back and forth between home and school, please fill out the device liability form. Due to the fragility of the iPads, we strongly encourage families to get their devices insured!

Back to School Night

Back to School Night will be a virtual event this year. Your teacher will be providing important information about the 2021-2022 school year in a video format that will be released the evening of Thursday, August 19.

School Lunch Info - UPDATED!

* Please be gracious during the first couple weeks of school. As we get a sense of what the lunch numbers will be, we might not have enough of what is on the menu for the day, but rest assured your child will be receiving a hot lunch regardless*


As part of USDA’s extension of many COVID relief waivers, schools nationwide will be allowed to serve meals, free of charge to all enrolled students. This option maintains the nutrition standards of the standard school meal programs – including a strong emphasis on providing fruits and vegetables, fluid milk, whole grains, and sensible calorie levels. Although all students receive meals free of charge this year, we are asking that all eligible families complete an online application by visiting, temeculafreshfood.com/. Completing an application not only helps our District’s Budget, but may also help provide before and after school academic & enrichment programs, fee waivers for college applications and AP tests, and resources for teachers.

JES Spirit Wear - UPDATED!

Our school colors are navy blue and yellow/gold. Each Friday our students wear the school colors for our spirit days, unless we have a Student Council spirit day.


The online store is open until August 22nd. Orders will be shipped directly to your house!
