Classroom Overview

Math-We currently are finishing up with the unit for Fractions & Mixed Numbers. We will be starting with decimals next!

History- We are still working on The Cold War Unit. We are starting off this week with a new section and students will be developing their knowledge and skills of this content area with many supplementary activities and lessons.

English: We are continuing with our "Writing Workshop" for our essays for the novel, "Night." We will continue to work on developing our essays over the next few weeks.

Academic Literacy: Students will be writing another summary piece this week after reading an excerpt of "Into Thin Air."

Science: We are still working on the Ecology unit. Students have completed the introductions and have just finished learning about symbiosis and completed awesome projects for their symbiotic want ad assignment. We will be reviewing an activity on the predator and the prey and will be moving on with biomes of the world.

Spirit Week: May 2-6

Salad Dressing Monday - Kick off the week and dress as your favorite Salad Dressing. (Ranch, Caesar, etc..)

Tacky Tourist Tuesday - Mismatch your clothes and look the part as the tacky tourist.

Star Wars Wednesday - Dress as your favorite Star Wars character and may the 4th be with you!

Black and Orange Thursday - Show your Wizard pride and wear all Black & Orange!

Class Color Friday - In anticipation of the Class Olympics support your class by wearing Blue"

Dare to Dream (Field Trip) on May 25th

The Dare to Dream event is on May 25th this year. We will leave at the start of the first period of the day and will return to school at 3:00. Students that are given permission to attend the field trip MUST have their own transportation from school to home at 3:00. Please look for a separate email from me about the permission slip to determine if you will be attending the trip this year.

Students will then be called to the Gymnasium by grade level starting at 7:35am. If you have a mixed class please head to the Gym when the majority of your class’s grade level is called. Please allow any upperclassmen to go when I call their grade level.

There is NO ADVISORY PERIOD this day.

NECAP Science Test

Any student in 11th grade will be taking the NECAP Science test next week. The test will be given on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the last two periods of the day. Students who are not taking this test will go to their regular scheduled class periods during those times. If you are unsure if you are taking the test, please let me know!
