SUMMER REGISTRATION FORECAST
June 27- July 22, 2022
WELCOME TO THE 2022 GLC SUMMER REGISTRATION PROCESS MUSTANGS!
Welcome to Summer Registration 2022! This year our registration appointments will be held in person. This will ensure that GLCs have one-on-one time with each student and their families to discuss their future at Walnut High School and beyond.
Please be sure to review the 5 STATIONS below to ensure you have a smooth registration process with your GLC this summer!
Summer Registration Hours
- Station 1: C8
- Station 2: Admin Building / GLC Offices
- Stations 3, 4, & 5: Library
STATION 1: Aeries Data Confirmation & Rules Video
The first station will be held in Room D2.
When you check in to C8, we will verify to see if you completed your Aeries Data Confirmation
- WHS will be utilizing your Aeries Parent Portal account to finalize registration documents. Through your AERIES Parent Portal account, you will be able to finalize parent/guardian information, emergency card information, and registration documents. The Aeries Parent Portal is now open for data confirmation and verification of continuing students in Walnut Valley Unified School District. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET WITH YOUR GLC IF DATA CONFIRMATION IS NOT COMPLETE. For additional clarification on the data confirmation process, please watch the video here.
After we verify you completed your Aeries Data Confirmation, you will be asked to watch a 10-minute rules and expectation video for the 2022-2023 school year.
- Parents will need to watch the video with their child to review important rules and expectations for the 2022-2023 school year. After the video has been viewed, parent and student will sign a form stating they reviewed the rules and expectations for the 2022-2023 school year. You will turn that form to your GLC during your appointment.
STATION 2: On Campus GLC Appointment
STATION 3: Item Pick Up, Student ID Photos, Spirit Wear, & More!
Once you finish your GLC appointment, take your printed schedule to the library and drop it in the textbook pick-up box. You will then start in station 3 where you have a chance to purchase spirit wear, student planners, PE clothes, yearbooks, and much more. Students will also take their Student ID photo at this station.
Station 4: Meet our Parent Support Groups!
The following parent groups will have a table to help answer any questions or share more about how to get involved:
- Walnut High Community Club
- Chinese American Parent Association
- Korean American Parent Association
- Latinx Parent Alliance
STATION 5: Pick Up Your Textbooks!
Registration Detailed Map & Instructions:

District-owned Chromebooks are made available for checkout to students who choose not to bring their own devices to school.
Chromebook Checkout will be available in the TDC (Technology Distribution Center), next door to the library, Monday-Thursday from 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.
Our Instructional Tech Coach, Kevin Wendland, will assist with any Chromebook needs. Please visit him in the TDC or email at kwendland@wvusd.org.
All students checking out a District-owned Chromebook will be expected to return the WHS DEVICE AGREEMENT FOR STUDENTS (see below) to the TDC with their signature and the signature of a parent or guardian. Students choosing to check out a Chromebook will not receive a device until they return the signed form.
NEW BELL SCHEDULE FOR 2022-2023
In 2019, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 328, which requires high schools next fall to start no earlier than 8:30 a.m. SB 328 is rooted in over three decades of research on teen health, sleep patterns, and brain chemistry. Its goal is to align school start times to support better sleep habits, student health, and performance in school.
Working closely with our staff and the district, we began preparing a plan to minimize disruption to our existing bell schedule and make any operational adjustments (transportation, food service, etc.) to support these changes.
Earlier this month, we finalized our new bell schedule that will go into effect starting next school year. To help you prepare for the changes in our start time and end times, we wanted to give you access to the updated schedule which will go into effect on August 8, 2022.
If you have trouble with the attachments, you can click below to access the files:
- Monday - Friday Bell Schedule
- Detailed Bell Schedule, including Minimum Days, Finals, and Rally Schedule
Thank you for being so understanding, patient, and flexible as we work through another change.
2022-2023 School Year Parking Permit Applications
Students MUST have a WHS Parking Permit to park in our parking lot this coming school year.
Students must complete the parking permit application below from their school google account. Once completed and appropriate forms uploaded, students will visit Mrs. Markel in the front office.
If students will be parking in our lot at a future date, they may complete the application at that time and visit Mrs. Markel in the front office for their permit.

Introducing our New Grade Level Coordinator: Morgan Galeener
Morgan will work alongside Corolar Schultz with the Class of 2026. His alpha will be Lin-Z. If the last name sounds familiar, his father was a GLC at Diamond Bar High School for 34 years.
Welcome to the Mustang Family Mr. Galeener!
WHS GLC Model
The Grade Level Coordinator (GLC) program replaced the traditional counselor system at Walnut in 1984. The GLC model is a holistic approach to school counseling. The GLCs are supervised by the Assistant Principal and each has about 300 students they deal with on a regular basis.
This includes:
- College Counseling
- Personal Counseling
- Student Discipline
- Attendance
- Supervision
- 8th Grade Orientation
- Summer Registration
GLCs are also responsible for campus supervision and activities supervision. This makes them some of the best known people around. Walnut High credits the GLC program and each GLC with accomplishments such as a drop out rate of less than one percent, a graduation rate of over 99%, and an average daily attendance rate over 95%.
Please visit each grade level web page by clicking on the GLC team page HERE.
