Weekly Wrap-Up #16
Benedict A. Cucinella Elementary School
"Mistakes are proof that you are trying!" -- Jennifer Lim
Week 16:
I can't believe that we are nearing the end of the 2022! The first few months of the school year have flown by but the teachers have been happy to get back into a "normal" virtual instruction free routine. Our students have been making great strides and I can't wait to see how much more they will grow over the next few months!
Last week was another busy week here at Cucinella. Our 5th graders treated the school to a vocal music performance. Thank you to Mrs. Postigo for organizing this wonderful event! We also want to thank Mr. Yakimec for providing the background accompaniment to our 5th grade musical performance.
Additionally, we want to thank Mrs. Daggett and the PTO for organizing yet another wonderful Holiday Gift Shoppe! The students had a blast shopping for their families and loved ones. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who donated their time to help out during this event.
Looking Ahead:
Thursday, December 22nd- Individual Homeroom Holiday parties. 12:40-1:40PM
Friday, December 23rd- BAC Spirit Day: Holiday Pajama Day and Early Dismissal Day 12:35
RELATED ARTS SCHEDULE: Monday starts our Related Arts schedule on a DAY 5.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Monday!

Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures
This message is just a reminder of the arrival and dismissal procedures for Cucinella School. Nothing has changed since the start of the year but we want to take a moment to reshare these procedures as we have several new students and families who have joined us since the start of the year. Please be reminded, these procedures are in place to maintain the safety of students while offering a smooth and safe procedure for all.
Please take a moment to look at the attached map outlining the traffic routes. Items of note are that the smaller parking lot on the right side is to be used by our Pre-K families ONLY. The nature of unloading a Preschool student is more intensive, so we ask that we keep this lot open for our Pre-K parents so they do not hold up the main drop off/pick up line. All other grade levels (Kindergarten-5th Grade) should use the main driveway and main parking lot area.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

PickUp Patrol Updates- NOW USED FOR RECORDING ABSENCES
PickUp Patrol has been in effect for over 3 weeks now and we are very happy with the positive feedback we have been receiving from the community. As we continue to roll out all the options this program provides us, we will now start using PickUp Patrol for recording your child's absences. Please click here to review how to use the program to record absences.
The absence line which was previously used to record absences has now been disconnected. Our secretaries are no longer checking phone messages for absences or changes in dismissal procedures. This information is now handled exclusively through the PickUp Patrol app. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to integrate this new attendance management system.
All of our parents and guardians should have received a "Welcome" email with details on how to download the app and set up your account. If you have not received an email, please check your SPAM folder. If you can not find the Welcome email, please contact our school secretaries and ask for a new one to be resent.
If you have not downloaded the app or set up your account yet, please do so as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the secretaries, Mrs. Deanna Dargel or Mrs. Boomi Varathrajan.
20th Annual 4th & 5th Grade Spelling Bee
Registration deadline is Thursday, December 22nd.
A Message from the LibraryIn an effort to keep our library books in good shape, we are asking for your assistance. Many library books have been coming back to school with water damage. If you could please place your child's library book in a Ziploc bag, it would be greatly appreciated. This will help keep the books safe from the water bottles within the backpacks. We have had multiple instances of children's water bottles leaking in their backpacks. | December Spirit DaysWe invite you to join us as we celebrate the season and spread some holiday cheer with weekly school spirit days. Each week we will have a different theme. Starting this Thursday, December 1st, we will celebrate Grinch Day by wearing our favorite Grinch gear or wearing green! For all of our spirit day dates and themes, please click here. | 5th Grade AmbassadorsWe want to thank all of our 5th Ambassadors for their help during the first trimester. Their work around the building was much appreciated by the staff and students. Whether it was helping out in the library, setting up recess equipment, recording morning announcements, holding doors open during arrival and dismissal, or giving up their recess periods to read to kindergarten students, we appreciate their efforts! |
