Service Abroad Experience for Pre-Health Students

This program is designed for students in the sciences with an interest in health issues in developing countries and the governmental, societal, environmental, and cultural factors that influence healthcare. Students should expect to learn about overcoming challenges in healthcare from the context of a developing country.

Students will attend presentations by doctors at Javeriana University (The Jesuit University of Colombia) and students from the Javeriana School of Health. They will also have clinical placements at private, public, and rural hospitals and clinics.

Applicants must:

  • Be FCRH Juniors and Seniors participating in the Pre-Health Program
  • Have completed minimum of 6 major-level science courses for the Pre-Health Program
  • Have minimum GPA of 3.0

Students participating in this trip will be required to submit a five-page paper within two weeks of their return, reflecting on the topic of cultural competency in the delivery of healthcare.
