Montessori Minute
Friday, January 27
Hope you enjoyed our PD Day on January 23
Here is a 4 minute movie where a college education student reflects on Couros' book: https://youtu.be/r09ZQQcTnDA
I also made it to sessions on using my GMail and Google Photos accounts more effieciently and an "Elementary Principal's Roundtable" where we discussed elementary school issues from a local, regional, state, and national level.
Hope your day was just as productive!
Video of the Week
100th Day of School!
Kindergarten will celebrate on Monday, Feb. 6, so if you are doing special activities on Monday morning, I'll get to see them, too!
APL Reminder of the Week
Step One: Ask the question, pause to provide students time to process (wait-time), and put students On the Clock
Step Two: While students are sharing in pairs, the teacher selects one or more pairs to interview regarding their thoughts.
Step Three: When the pairs are brought back on time, the teacher then calls on the 1 (or more) pairs that were interviewed. (Called Purposeful Selection!)
Step Four: Next, the teacher calls on a random student or two. This Random Selection keeps all students engaged in the discussion!
Step Five: Finally, open the question up for additional responses by asking for volunteers. This is called Volunteer Selection!
We Love Public Schools Day
Make sure to post something GREAT about public schools on your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or other social media accounts! Use the hashtags #npspanthers and #ilovepublicschools to promote all of the great things that are going on here in Norfolk!
You may wear jeans and a Norfolk shirt on Monday; hopefully, we'll have our new (Free!) shirts in early March.
