Sheldon recognizes breast cancer survivors at annual Pink Out game
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year, King High School dedicates a football game to Pink Out. Students, parents and fans are encouraged to show up in their pink to raise awareness of this disease and support breast cancer survivors. The district recognized survivors and Sheldon ISD staff members Elizabeth Carswell from King Middle School and LaShon Jackson from Garrett Elementary. Garrett Elementary School Principal Tacarra Williams presented each survivor with a small token of appreciation from the district during the pregame festivities.
Spirit of King begins
We are kicking off our annual “Spirit of King” Christmas program to help provide Christmas gifts to district children who are in need of help. Each campus identified 10 families who are in need. Each family has been referred by a campus staff member who can confirm the family is in need.
The “Spirit of King” program provides gifts for all children in the family who are enrolled in school. The “Spirit of King” program seeks individuals and organizations in the district who would like to sponsor a child. Sponsors are asked to provide at least one new item of clothing and at least one toy/non-clothing item for each child.
Your campus counselor has received “Spirit of King” cards. If you, your club, team, group, etc. would like to adopt a “Spirit of King” child, check with your counselor for more information.
This is a voluntary program; there is no obligation to participate. However, if you want to help one or more of these children please select a child to sponsor.
The “Spirit of King” program is expected to provide for over 300 children again this year. This is all due to the overwhelming generosity of the students and employees of Sheldon ISD. We hope your participation will again help children to have a nice Christmas.
Please do not hesitate to contact your school counselor if you have any questions.

New automated phone system for Sheldon buildings and campuses
Sheldon ISD schools have a new automated phone system in place at every campus to help guide calls to appropriate people without having to go to the front desk every time. For example, callers can press a number to reach the attendance clerk and/or nurse. We are working through adding different menu options, so please make sure that you listen to the menu options to help guide your call. There will be an option for Spanish-speaking families that need assistance at the campus.
November 11 is Veteran's Day

November 17 is Education Support Professionals Day!
