The Cities of Jamaica
There are four major cities of Jamaica including New Kingston, Spanish Town, Portmore, and Montego Bay. The capital of Jamaica is Kingston.
History of Jamaica
Jamaica was once controlled by Britian from 1655 to 1962. When the Spanish fled, some of the slaves escaped to the mountians and crated the maroon communities. Then the British found out that most of the wealth comes from the sugar plantations. Jamaica finally got independence on August 6th, 1962.
Official Language and Flag History
The official language of Jamaica is English. The flag was made on August 6th, 1962 to represent Jamaicas independence. All the colors represent something for example yellow means sunshine, green represents the land, and black represents the creativity and strength of the people.
Geography
Jamaica is a island in the Caribbean Sea. There are many different physical features including the Rio Minha which is the islands longest river, Blue Mountian Peak, and the John Crow Mountians.
Political Information and Economic Information
The type of government is a constitutional parliamentary democracy and their leader is Prime Minister Andrew Holmes. Their currency is the Jamaican dollar. The economic system is tourism.
Tourist Information
People should visit Jamaica because there is nice tropical weather and lots to explore and see. Tourists could go to the Negril Beach or the Rio Grande River and they could go see the Blue Mountains.
