RNNE Instructional Leadership Team
Goal-oriented and intentional. Intervention. Authentic Team.
Beginning of Week Meeting
LiveSchool Points Tracking/Analysis and follow up with teachers
- Follow up with specific shout out for teachers via the LiveSchool chat feature, e-mail, text message
- Follow up with teachers that are off track/negatively skewed points; determine the root cause/holdback for a teacher not giving many Positive Points
Positive Framing
- ILT Dashboard
- We should be providing "in the moment" coaching for when statements are not positively framed for students
- Follow up with teachers directly about positive framing
Non-Verbals/LIC
Positive Narration
Master Coaching Deck
- Updated for teacher PD goals - teacher PD goals shared with teachers by EOD Friday
- Updated with teacher action steps
- Updated for next upcoming 1:1 agenda
- Video record at least one of your 1:1 meetings this week and share the video with me so that I can provide feedback.
Academics:
- STEP Testing - ensure that all STEP schedules have been uploaded
- Upper School:
- All Double Plans submitted must have exemplar responses with them. If not, their submitted plans are not complete.
- All Double Plans must be out on student desks/system for being in student hands as soon as students finish threshold. Students should be starting on Do Now silently as soon as they get to their seats.
Physical Space Vision and Rubric
- Teacher Countertops need to be de-cluttered
- Upper school student desks need to be cleaned out/maintained for cleanliness
Data Days
- Gabi and I are meeting tomorrow to finalize network and general sessions for Thursday's Data Day.
- I would like the general theme to be data analysis to become goal-oriented and intentional.
- State of the School - MAP fall data, attendance percentage, culture focus
- LiveSchool Analysis Protocol (similar to SWIS) to analyze trends at an individual student, individual teacher, cohort-wide and grade level view. I want clear next steps to be identified as a result. One theory that I have is that the grade level owned consequence hierarchy is not being used consistently/with fidelity.
- MAP Analysis
- Initial STEP Analysis/next step planning
- The network would like to facilitate a session for Humanities and Math; I've asked for the HUM Sessions to be on planning and executing the "I do" portion of the RA/RC since I'm seeing blurring between the I do and We do and possibly a "Control the Game" Session because I'm seeing a ton of teacher talk in RC lessons during the text reading portion.
School Leader MAP Analysis
- I am going to create a MAP Analysis reflective guide for us to complete as we analyze MAP data prior to Thursday. I will analyze the MAP data at a school-wide level and I am also going to zoom in on 3rd and 4th grade.
- I will share my analysis with the team and you will then analyze your coached areas by EOD Wednesday.
Teacher Care
- Our teachers are become emotionally drained. I want to give two different types of Teacher Care gifts this week. An "in action" picture and a student note.
- Ask: during observations/walkthroughs, please snap a quick "in action" picture of each of your teachers and upload them to this folder.
Daily Round Up Launcher
- I am going to send a daily launcher for the next days/weeks to quickly highlight bright spots based on the focus areas as well as areas to tighten for the next day. I am doing this to shorten the feedback loop for all of us so that a negative culture does not spiral unchecked.
- Please send me any teachers who are really rocking it out in one of our culture areas so that I can highlight them in the daily email.
Community Meeting
- I will be completing the PPT deck for the Community Meeting tomorrow. I'll share it out with you so that you know what I plan to discuss. For the future meetings, I want to go back to the "resource fair" type of structure.
Daily ILT Walkthrough
HUGE SHOUT OUT to the three of you for KILLING IT by being in classrooms ALL OF THE TIME! Teachers have truly felt this and really value your constant presence in their rooms!
Continue to keep this up! I even saw that Nicki has scheduled on her calendar to do some prep work inside of classrooms so that her presence is there even with head down work!
Class Bathroom Breaks
Positive Framing Models
Let's be sure that we are all modeling at a 3+ based on the student culture rubric for Positive Framing this week!
Also, highlight teachers who are using positive framing well/growing in it. Send me their names to highlight in the daily launchers, shoot them a personalized e-mail, text message, etc. We highlight what we value.
Weekly Worksheet Team Highlights
For focus around building relationships with families, check out Danny's Weekly Worksheet.
For an example of providing a clear picture of your week at a glance with specific times and focus areas, check out Nicki's Weekly Worksheet.
For ways to ensure that you are building in specific times to check IPs, follow up on IPs, follow up on LiveSchool, check out Caity's Weekly Worksheet.
Remember to build in time to send me your Weekly Worksheet by EOD Thursday.
Intellectual Plans Submission
Send a follow up e-mail to teachers who have submitted on time and those who have not with clear dates for submission moving forward - next day by COB, etc.
VoE, Unit Planning Pre-Work
Daily Block Schedule for Math and Humanities
Staff Satisfaction/Manager Effectivness Survey
I am going to send these out monthly so that we have updated data on the health of the school so that we can effectively address staff concerns as well as recognize areas of progress.
I will share the survey with you all first so that you can provide any feedback. I am going to use the same prompts as the network's Staff Satisfaction and Manager Effectiveness Surveys.
One thing that I saw Danny do in a 1:1 with Marcus was to directly ask the question "What can I do better as your coach?". I would highly recommend doing this as a wrap up to a 1:1 so that you have a chance to get data before a survey comes out and can directly address issues that may be present.
Weekly School Leader Inspiration
You are all growing so strong each day. I know that leadership is hard and that it takes a true toll on you emotionally and physically. But, know that your work is not and will not go in vain.
Give yourself grace (always!) and commit to not being the perfect school leader, but rather commit to becoming a little better each day, each week.
You all are killing it! Keep on, keepin' on!
I love this video! While we are not at the point of being a "broken" school, I do believe that there is enough hurt and trauma that our students, families and staff have experienced to where the same principles in this video applies.
Week 5 - let's git'r done!
