Web-Based Professional Development Sessions
Join us July 20 and 21 for the IVS Web-based PD Sessions. Although you are only required to attend the "Kicking off FY17" session, you are encouraged to attend the Optional Sessions focused on the topics you suggested through your PLC meetings.
PD Clock Hours will be provided for live attendance and participation in Optional Sessions only.
Required Session: Kicking off FY17
This Required Session is offered twice for your convenience.
You must attend one of the following:
- Option A: 9:00-10:30am on July 20
- Option B: 1:00-2:30pm on July 21
This is an informational meeting and does not support professional growth per ISBE guidelines; no PD Clock Hours will be available.
Optional Sessions on Wednesday, July 20
This session will focus on effectively managing your Full Service course when Apex Learning provides the content/lessons for your course. It will highlight Apex features, tools, and how to transfer grades from Apex to D2L. Note: This session will not focus on Credit Recovery courses.
1 PD Clock Hour Earned for Attendance and Participation
This session will not only help you understand all the important settings and properties associated with quizzes and the D2L gradebook, but also include a discussion about the importance of rubrics and sharing expectations for assessments with students. We will also discuss the need to have a balance of practice activities prior to assessments and explore ways to add these activities.
1.5 PD Clock Hours Earned for Attendance and Participation
Join us for this session on best practices for attaching release conditions to content items in ways that support, but not limit, instruction. We will also show how to apply release conditions to News items so they are visible at the appropriate time for your different groups of students.

During the Open Forums, you may go in and out of these three different Adobe Connect Rooms to have your pressing questions answered: Curriculum Forum, Administrative/HR Forum, and a New Teachers Forum.
No PD Clock Hours available, but please use this time to get your burning questions answered.
Optional Sessions on Thursday, July 21
A recent REL Midwest Study with Wisconsin Virtual School identified that students' online course engagement predicts online course performance. This session introduces ways to promote engagement in the content, as well as share effective ways to use Intelligent agents to help.
1.5 PD Clock Hours Earned for Attendance and Participation
As more and more of our Partner Schools use Chromebooks and Google Apps, this session will show how to support students who need to integrate Google Docs and other Apps with our course system. We will also explore ways to ensure that students submit assignments in the correct file formats.
