Pocket Physics is a a free app that gives access to Physics formulas that include descriptions and images as well. This is a great app that helps students with physics homework (especially when they can't remember a formula or how to use it). This app is intended for high school students. Pocket Physics is available on the Google Play Store.
Kindle is an amazing free app that gives users access to over 1.5 million books, magazines, and newspapers. Many of the reading materials are free and the app can be accessed without owning a Kindle e-reader. This is a great app to use in the classroom because rather than purchasing 30 copies of the same novel for an English class, teachers can just make students download the novel right to their mobile device. This app is for all ages. The Kindle app is available on the Google Play Store.
Poetry from Poetry Foundation
Poetry from Poetry Foundation is a free app that gives users access to tons of poems, as well as poet biographies, and audio versions for poems. This is a great app for an English class that is learning about poetry. "Nevermore" (Poe) can finding poetry be difficult because this app categorizes poems by Mood, Subject, Poet, or Audio. This app is for all ages. The Poetry from Poetry Foundation is available on the Google Play Store.
Google Earth allows you to explore planet Earth in depth right on your mobile device. From cities to landmarks to street views of your neighborhood and even 3D imagery, Google Earth is much, much more than your typical atlas. This is a great app for a Social Studies class learning about a particular region in the world because the students will be very engaged with all of the features than Google Earth has to offer about that region. Star Chart is a wonderful app that allows you to explore our solar system and beyond right from your mobile device. This app allows in-depth looks at constellations, planets, stars, and many other phenomena in the universe. With the use of the GPS function on your mobile device, you can pinpoint exact locations and get 3D accurate images of constellations, planets, and stars wherever they may be, even in the day time. This is a great app for both elementary and secondary science classes learning about the universe.
