Roadrunner Report
Monroe May Newsletter by Ms. Benitez, Principal
Spring is upon us!
Our instructional practices are focused on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (button below with a link) as established by T.E.A. STAAR is a part of the accountability system as mandated by the state. The first round of testing for 4th and 5th grades will be April 9th and 10th. There are stringent state requirements for testing procedures. Keeping this in mind, we strive to provide the best environment with minimal distractions for our students to do their best throughout this time. Therefore, we do not have visitors on campus on the testing days.
The Roadrunner Romp is re-scheduled for May 18th. It will be held from 11 am to 3 pm. We need volunteers to help with booths, serving food, and other areas. We are also looking for board members for the 2019-2020 school year. Our PTA does an excellent job of providing resources for our students' success. You can be a part of that success! Be sure to contact mayelempta@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering or being a part of the PTA board.
Some of our families use the cross walks on Chase Hill Boulevard. Please observe the school zone speed limit of twenty miles per hour. The curve of the street may hinder your view of the street. We are truly fortunate to have our Crossing Guard for our student safety. We appreciate your cooperation in following her signals for safety.

VOLUNTEER / MENTOR
Be a Watch D.O.G.!
We'd like to have more father-figures volunteer for our WATCH D.O.G.S program. You can volunteer for a half day or a full day. We have an easy schedule for you to follow which includes two brief visits to volunteer in your child's classroom. Even a half day can make a big impact on our students. maywatchdog@gmail.com
