The Principal's Post
Vol. 3, Issue 2 - September 2020
PGE- Preparation, Goodwill, & Excellence
The Principal’s Post runs once a month with weekly updates included in the grade level newsletters. Below are the newest dates, resources, and happenings.
General Information
Parents and guardians,
Admittedly, our first week with technology had its challenges; however, please know - our technology department is working continuously to support our students and staff. One of our primary operating processes is undergoing an upgrade and some of the lag times and interface problems can be attributed to this update. Here is a bit of background:
- Before the pandemic, KISD concluded a contract with our former student information system (SIS) and upgraded to a new system, AERIES. This transition meant a migration of student names, addresses, records, and a host of other connected data sources.
- The SIS upgrade, while up and running now, did affect enrollment, scheduling, and other systems. The progress to move things more quickly was also hindered by two larger challenges - the pandemic and changes in the state's policies regarding the operating conditions for schools.
I also want to give a cheetah shoutout to our parents. Every single "in-person parent" or "remote parent" who enrolled or registered their child has (as needed):
- worn masks while on school grounds - thank you!
- met us at the door for early dismissals - thank you!
- corrected driveway parking without incident - THANK YOU!
- most wave back, too (silly, I know, but I wave when I am outside) - Thank you!
