To inspire students to live faith filled lives
and to be, like St. John the Baptist,
heralds of God's love in the world
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK...
And now, bless the God of all
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to thank all of you for your wonderful support for St. John the Baptist School. I want to thank everyone who supported, attended, volunteered and donated to our first annual St. John’s School Spectacular. It was an amazing event, and preliminary numbers indicate that we significantly exceeded our net goal of $50,000.
Last Friday, we gathered for an All School Mass, and we sang “Open My Eyes, Lord; Help Me to See.” I sometimes ask myself if I am being attentive to all that God has placed within my view. Am I appreciating the people in my life? Am I looking for the little wonders and miracles that surround me? Am I grateful for all that has been given to me?
Next week, we all have some well-deserved time to rest; to be with family and friends and to give thanks. I’m sure that some of you will have the opportunity to travel for vacation or to visit family members who live in another city or state. I wish all of you safe and enjoyable journeys.
The first reading for Thanksgiving Day comes from the Book of Sirach. It begins with these words, “And now, bless the God of all, who has done wondrous things on earth:” Sirach goes on to remind us that God has created us according to His will. He has created us for joy, peace and goodness.
This year, as you celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends, I encourage you to reflect upon, share and celebrate all of the wondrous things God has done for you. Recognize the joy, peace and goodness that has been given to you. May we all also take the time to remember and pray for the poor and the suffering in the world. May we all end our meal with And now, bless the God of all.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Daniel A Minelli

Thank you to all of our school families that donated to help provide Thanksgiving meal baskets to needy families. Students helped to load the trailer and members of the St. John's Joseph's Group delivered them to the Corpus Christi Food Pantry on Friday, November 8.
