2016-2017 Choices
Here are the outstanding choices submitted for CHS EdCamp 2016. You will be receiving a Google Form with set times. EdCamp is set for August 10 and 11. Please read carefully and choose wisely! Sessions will run from 8:00 to 11:30 each day . You must make four sessions per day ( three if you are choosing the two hour block sessions).
Student Portfolios
Student portfolios are a compilation of academic work, accomplishments, and other evidence used to evaluate student learning, growth, and academic achievement. CISD requires student portfolios and they do provide a richer, deeper, and more accurate picture of what students have learned and are able to do. Kara Gregory: Room 204
Videotaping Your Lessons for All Occasions
Students are absent, leaving early for extracurricular activities , you have to be out of class for whatever reason........YOU want to keep your classes moving forward. Learn how to use HoverCam/Ultra which we will have available for teachers to use in order to videotape their lessons that students can have access to in order to keep them from missing a day of valuable instructions. Beginner Use of Google Forms (TWO HOUR BLOCK SESSION)
Walk through the process of using Google Forms to collect any kind of digital work from your students and the new quiz feature in Google Forms. No more endless paper trail! This is tailored and paced for those who are timid about assigning and collecting digital work. Time will be provided to set up an actual form for your classes. Kristen Baugh: Room 107
Formative Assessment Using Technology Tied to Dimension 1.2 TTESS (Two Hour Block)
Dimension 1.2 of TTESS states the teacher uses formal and informal methods to measure student progress, then manages and analyzes student data to inform instruction. Learn different option that can be used in every classroom that lets the teacher know exactly what each student needs as they learn and take immediate actions toward instruction. Collaboration in the Classroom With Google
Collaboration is when two or more work together through an idea sharing and thinking to accomplish a goal. Simply put, it is teamwork (NOT GROUP WORK) taken to a higher level. Using a unit implemented last year with the Junior ELA classes see how it can be set up, carried out, and how it all turned out at the end of the year. Virginia Fischer: Room 311
Integrating Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening Into All Classrooms (8/11 only)
The integration of these four skills will make learners good listeners, speakers, readers and writers so as to be able to communicate effectively - assure real life and purposeful communication. Examples of how to do this will be provided as well as other resources. Kaylin Burleson: Room 302
Small Group Instruction (Only Available on August 11th)
Research shows students learn reading best when they have access to a full range of instruction geared to various grouping sizes. Furthermore, research shows that the exclusive use of one grouping pattern tends to widen the gap between low level readers and advanced readers. Classroom Strategies That Encourage Critical Thinking
Looking for ways to plan engaging, flexible lessons that encourage higher order thinking and questioning? Ways to use these strategies will be demonstrated that promote thinking and learning. Learn ways to get students to analyze information, create their own research questions/projects, and/or think deeply about a challenging assignment. Michael Elder: Room 221
Writing Rubrics For The Non ELA Classroom
Learn how to assess writing in your NonELA classroom - again, a CISD District Goal. Discuss what key elements/criteria we should have for all students with regard to writing across the curriculum.
