Student Success Handbook

Warren Parents and Caregivers, here is the link to our Student Success Handbook. This handbook is updated every year to include information about how we keep students and staff safe at school, along with resources for families to access as well as information on district procedures and policies. This handbook is also shared with students. Please take a moment to review and complete this as acknowledgement that you have received the handbook. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Student Conferences

On Monday, September 28th, students will be bringing home a conference sign up form. To ensure that all families have an opportunity to meet with their student's teacher, conferences have been set for 15-minute time slots. The conferences will take place virtually through zoom or phone call. Please remember that conferences will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020, from 11:00 am-7:00 pm and students will not attend school on this day.

Virtual Learner Conferences

Conferences will take place after Fall Break. Families will meet with their first quarter teacher to celebrate their efforts in the first quarter. October 22nd is a non-school day for all students in Warren Township due to Parent Teacher Conferences. (October 22nd is NOT an Enrichment Day.)

***ALL FAMILIES should have a conference with their first quarter teacher. This means that some students will be in a new learning environment while having conferences with their first quarter teacher.

Example: Mrs. Thomas was John's virtual teacher in quarter one. John is now an in-person student being taught by Mr. Henry. Mrs. Thomas needs to meet with John's family for a conference.

Example: Some students have had three teachers (2 virtual teachers and 1in-person) in the first quarter. The teacher that has the student at the end of the first quarter needs to have the conference.

Counselor Spotlight

Hello Caregivers,

Since I have begun working at Eastridge I have been on the go non stop building rapport with students, presenting Bullying Prevention Lessons, and learning about the culture of Eastridge Elementary School; and for that I apologize as I have not had the opportunity to formally introduce myself. My name is Koyauna Jones and I am the new School Counselor at Eastridge. I transitioned from social work as a previous Foster Care Case Manager at The Villages of Indiana Inc. and while there I was able to work with foster children under the care of The Department of Child Services. I was eager to transition into a school setting as I was constantly in and out of schools advocating for their best interest. I look forward to assisting students in learning new ways to advocate for themselves with peers and teachers, assisting them in gaining control of their emotions, removing educational barriers, and so much more!

I will be present during Parent Teacher Conferences if you would like to schedule a time to talk but if you would like to speak with me before then please feel free to reach out to me before then. Thank you and I look forward to working with you and your students!

Thank You,

Koyauna Jones

Health Forms Update

Immunization Record

All student vaccines must be on file and up to date by October 19, 2020 to avoid exclusion (the date has been pushed back by the Marion County Health Department). Please make your school's nursing staff aware of any upcoming appointments for vaccines, or if there are any medical or religious objections to your student receiving his or her vaccines.

Covid Screening & Quarantine Information

Thank you for taking time each morning to screen your child before coming to school each day. Please continue to do so. Below are symptoms impacting consideration for exclusion from school:

● A fever of 100.0° F or greater

● Chills

● Cough

● Muscle or body aches

● Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

● Headache

● Sore throat

● Congestion or runny nose

● Fatigue

● New loss of taste or smell

● Nausea or vomiting

● Diarrhea

Students and employees should be excluded from school if they test positive for COVID-19 or exhibit two or more of the symptoms of COVID-19 that are not otherwise explained based on ISDH / MCPHD guidance. If in doubt, please don't hesitate to call school at 317-532-3150 for some guidance. We appreciate your support in doing this important screening step each day before sending students to school.

For the 2020-2021 school year, Warren Township has transitioned to a new student information system called Synergy allowing our parents and caregivers to have improved access to school information through the parent portal called ParentVUE. We are aware that at his time some students’ attendance records are reflecting students are absent, when in fact they were present. This is mostly the case for our students who are attending school VIRTUALLY on application days or in the VIRTUAL opinion full-time. We want to assure you that teachers are keeping accurate attendance records and that we are working to correct attendance records for all our students.
