Principal's Message
Greetings Fir Grove Families!
As a reminder, Fir Grove's Mission Statement is as follows: Our Fir Grove community believes that by working together to create meaningful relationships, honor differences, and encourage excellence, students will develop a lifelong curiosity and joy of learning.
The term “community” may often times seem intangible. We all know what a community is, we all know that we have one, but sometimes it’s hard to see community personified. With our Science Expo event, we saw, heard, and felt our community. We are so thankful for the wonderful support we received for our annual Science Expo. Our students participated with excitement and pride, our volunteers made the whole event possible through thoughtful planning and execution. Our staff volunteered their time and talents and parents supported by learning and playing alongside. Everything and everyone came together as a community, and the result was amazing. We couldn’t be more grateful for our Fir Grove community. Thank you all for helping with our Science Expo, especially Rhonda McCall, who chaired the event, and all of the volunteers who helped set up and execute. We appreciate you!
We look forward to more community events in May: Music Performance, Bingo Night, Bike Class, and Family Game Night. We hope to see our families attend.
Warmly,
Erin Miles

Did you know that playing games with your child can help them develop critical thinking skills? We all get so busy in life, but please take the time to come to game night where you can enjoy spending time with your family and teachers, and also learn some new games.
Every family that comes to game night and returns their feedback form that evening will receive a game for their home within two weeks of game night. THPRD and the Beaverton Library will also provide information about summer programs.
Look for the Game Night Flyer that explains all the details next week, but please put this night on your calendar: May 17th.

ParentVue
The administration of our state assessment will take place between May 1 and June 8.
Beginning this year, state test scores are available in ParentVUE! You will be able to see your child’s test results sooner than in prior years with less impact on the environment. For the English Language and Math tests, a student’s score is available in ParentVUE two weeks after both parts of the test are completed. Science test scores are available in Parent VUE three days after the test is completed. The Testing Information tab in ParentVUE has links to additional information about your child’s scores. If you need assistance activating a ParentVUE account, please contact Fir Grove.
Students whose parents/guardians do not have an active ParentVUE account will receive a paper report of test scores. Paper score reports will be sent home with students on the last day of school. Score reports will be mailed over the summer for students with test results that arrive after the paper score reports are printed in June. Students with at least one parent/guardian with ParentVUE access may request a printed report by contacting Kay Jenkins by email at kay_jenkins@beaverton.k12.or.us or by phone at 503.356.4594.
School Breakfast is Cool!
Everyday is a perfect day for school breakfast!
As the summer approaches, kids often become more restless and distracted at school. You can help to make sure that their last weeks of school are productive by ensuring that they begin the day with a nutritious breakfast. Studies show a good breakfast makes kids more alert, less distractible, and better behaved in school; it can even improve their test scores!
Let’s keep our students focused by making sure they begin every school day with a balanced meal at home or at the School Breakfast Program.
