Language Arts
Each student is reading a fictional book at this time. After we read, we have been writing a response on Schoology. In doing this, the children begin examining how different characters and the reader can experience similar events in different ways. It ends with making connections between the novel and life.
Writing
We have been practicing writing and going back to edit our work for punctuation and grammar. We have also discussed the term revising and what that means. We will continue to work on these skills in the next week!
Wonderopolis
MATH
READ, THINK, SOLVE, and CHECK.
Multiplication and division facts are a key skill in third grade. Please have your child practice their facts every night. By the end of third grade, the facts should be memorized. I have sites on my webpage and they have flashcards to practice. We will be doing some timed tests in the future to ensure mastery.
SCIENCE
No bones about it...Our class did great on this unit of bones and muscles. I am so proud of them!
Next week we will be starting up a unit on immigration! In this unit, we will learn all about the process that immigrants had to go through to come into the United States! Our Ellis Island Simulation is scheduled for May 16th. We will need parent volunteers and also snacks. A note will be sent home soon! Just wanted to give you a heads up on the date!
