Jaguar News
Volume 1, Issue 32 - April 26, 2018
As the end of the year approaches, our students lose interest for school and have a hard time focusing. They tend to spend more time on their devices, using a lot of their time for gaming. I want to bring to your attention a very popular game that many of our students play, Fortnite. If you are not familiar with this game, Fortnite is a multiplayer shooting game available in several platforms, where players fight each other until only one player is left. If you want to find more info about the game, HERE you can read about it.
The concern about Fortnite does not come from the fact that is a violent game - that is the nature of most video games, think Call of Duty - but for the amount of screen time the kids spend playing it. This is a game designed to make it hard for the kids to stop playing, therefore neglecting school work, social interactions, and sleep time.
If your child plays this - or any other games - make sure you are aware of the time they spend playing, and discuss the importance of moderation!

Last Day of School
Mark your calendars! The Board of Education officially approved May 22 as the last day of the 2017-18 school year.
The school district builds in six winter weather days into the school year calendar. This year, the district used only two of the built-in winter weather days and was able to drop the remaining four winter weather days off of the school year calendar.
May 22 will be an early release day. This means classes will dismiss 2 1/2 hours before the normal dismissal time.
Summer school will begin on June 4. There are a number of wonderful summer school programs available for students. For more information visit: https://www.cpsk12.org/summerschool
Science Camp
In the upcoming years, students will attend Science Camp in the Fall of 6th grade year.

Lost & Found
Yoga in the classroom
PTSA made this opportunity possible for the students. Both boys and girls enjoyed Yoga in their PE and Health classes, and staff did it in different after school sessions.
