EDMS Staff Summer News

#ToroFamily
Happy Monday y'all! Whatcha all doing out there? I hope all of the men out there had a nice father's day yesterday. Whether you have your own children or not, you have all "fathered" children as a part of the many roles supporting our students. As we continue to look forward and plan for next year, I have SO many thoughts bouncing around. I think one thing that has become increasingly clear is, we are not going to be going back to "normal" anytime soon. As we have been saying, school as we know it, is going to significantly change and while that can sound scary and stressful, listening to all of you talk about what you are envisioning and planning on doing, I am very hopeful. In that spirit of change and looking ahead you'll notice a new section to the MM called "Challenge of the Week". This is just a way for all of us to be thinking and focused on what next year will bring. Feel free to take it or leave it but we hope it will help guide your thinking over the summer. Have a great week!
Updates for the Week...
District Task Forces have been assembled and meetings are happening to design and develop our plan for coming back in the Fall. The board will be receiving some preliminary recommendations tonight if you're interested I would watch. I feel confident saying that we are going to be coming back to some sort of a hybrid model, definitely with a distance learning element for some students. More info can be found here on the district website.
Email Migration
The move from Outlook to Gmail will be happening TOMORROW Tues, 6/23. All email will need to be accessed through Gmail. I know most of you have already done this but if you have any questions let us know. Please see the message from the district below.
We currently have two email systems, Microsoft Exchange(@mdusd.org) and Gmail(@mdusd.net). The plan is to migrate users from our Microsoft Exchange environment to Gmail so that staff will only have one email account to become familiar with and check and we can reduce the costs associated with maintaining two separate systems. Additionally, staff currently use several G-Suite products that would benefit from a more fully integrated Gmail account. Please check out the FAQs and answers here.
Staff Meetings
Here is the link to our Staff Meeting slidedeck from the year. Please check back on what we talked about at our last meeting. The links to the videos are still below for you to check out. You can also find MDUSD resources for Summer PD here and Distance Learning here.
Over the Summer we will be hosting Staffchat on Thursdays at 10:30am all Summer long. Please click here to join the meeting.
Yearbooks
We have found out that Yearbooks should be getting delivered the second week of July. Once we have them we will schedule a day for distribution. If you are around and able to help let us know.
Please don't hesitate to call, text or email as needed if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you all for everything you are doing.
Stay safe, stay well,
Clausen
