iPad Check during Next Advisory Period

All freshmen students need to bring their school issued iPads to school on Wednesday, September 7th. Teachers will be conducting an iPad check on Wednesday during Advisory time. On Wednesday, September 7th, your Advisory teacher will check for the following:

    • Physical damage to your iPad

    • Missing iPad case

    • iPad is updated to iOS 9

    • Completed the required verification on your iPad

    • Parents have filled out the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) in Skyward indicating that they approve you to use an iPad

    • $40 annual fee paid for iPad insurance

As a reminder, damaged iPads can cost up to $500 to repair, please remember to have your iPad case on at all times.

If any of the previously mentioned items are not correct or completed, expect that your Advisory teacher will collect your iPad until the district can resolve the issue. iPads will be returned to students once issues are resolved.

Labor Day is MONDAY!

Labor Day in the United States is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday of September. It honors the American Labor movement, and celebrates everything working Americans have accomplished. In the late 1800's, the average American worked 12-hour days, seven days a week. Even children as young as 5-6 years old worked in factories and mines.

To many, the holiday marks the unofficial ending of summer (insert sad face here - sorry Jags). People observe and celebrate this holiday by throwing parties, going to sporting events, and participating in parades.

  • Labor Day in Canada began in 1872 in Toronto.
  • The first U.S Labor Day was celebrated on Tuesday September 5, 1882, in New York City.
  • Oregon was the first state to make Labor Day a state holiday in 1887
  • Labor Day is also know as the unofficial kick off of the NFL season
  • Some fashionistas abide by the rule to never where white after Labor Day, it considered to be a fashion faux pas and brings the wearer bad luck.

For all of us in Jaguar Nation, the arrival of Labor Day marks the first day off of school for the year. We've worked hard these past 2 weeks, we deserve a small break, and we are looking forward to sleeping in and enjoying the day with friends and family. Have a GREAT Labor Day and stay safe Jags.
