2019 State and Regional STAAR Comparisons
Hope you are staying cool somewhere. The 3-8 Region vs. State charts are completed. You can plug your campus and district numbers in the spreadsheet and it will populate the chart tabs.
In thinking about Interventions for low performing campuses for the 2019-2020 school year, it will require us to shift our thinking a bit. It is not really whether you are on a list or not on a list per se. The IR and Comprehensive lists still certainly exist in statute, but interventions will be based on movement and progression of domains. The intended goal of the system is to move a letter grade each year and use that in goal setting at the campus level. Moving from an F to a D will pause interventions for example, but two D’s in a row will resume interventions. This is the first time we have seen interventions based on multiple years of performance. Two Overall D’s will lead to interventions for unacceptable campuses. An overall C resets the clock if you will.
Campuses with a D and F in a domain will be required to do interventions. We are not sure exactly what that looks like at this time and will have more information in late July. We have two accountability trainings below that you can register for.
This system places extreme value on:
- Students jumping thresholds each year.
- The meets standard.
- CCMR status of yes upon graduation.
Attached are the 2019 3-8 and EOC Regional and State STAAR scores. EOC only has regional scores at that time.
