“Mercantilism, also called "commercialism,” is a system in which a country attempts to amass wealth through trade with other countries, exporting more than it imports and increasing stores of gold and precious metals. It is often considered an outdated system.”

The government was encouraged by the idea of trade. it’s a way to gain wealth From the 15th through the 18th centuries and was the push behind much of the exploration and colonization of other lands and many of the wars that happened during that time.

What is Capitalism ?

"an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state."


Capitalism also deals with trading, trading was a big thing back then. that's what helped them survive...

they would trade instead of "buying" because they didn't have money or able to print or make money.
