Thanksgiving feast!
We talked a lot about the Native Americans and Pilgrims. We talked about the Mayflower and the First Thanksgiving! We dressed up in our Native American attire and paraded around the school to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. We then danced around the classroom to Native American music! After our parade, we enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast as a class! We ate a lot of different food including corn muffins, marshmallows, grapes, apples and popcorn. During the month of November, we also talked about what we were thankful for.
Great Valley Nature center visit!
We talked a lot about Native Americans this month! We talked about how they hunt, gather, fish, dress, travel, live and what they eat. We completed different activities, such as creating a tee pee, totem pole and a canoe. We talked about Native American names and even created our own names which were used throughout our Native American unit! The Great Valley Nature Center came for a visit to share with us different information about Native Americans. We read a story, looked at a Native American village, played in a wigwam, created necklaces, tried on different clothes and even played different Native American games. We had so much fun!
Reading with the fifth graders!
The fifth graders came for a visit to read us books about responsibility! The fifth grader read the stories while we listened. After the story, the Junior Kindergartners drew a picture about what they are responsible for. They discussed their pictures and the fifth graders wrote a sentence. We had a lot of fun reading with them!
