What We Learned

Last week's question, was all about communication. Thank you for the great feedback. Once again, we don't know what's working and what isn't unless you share it with us.

We're going to use this information to help you, so you know what is happening at Spencer and in your child/ren's classroom(s). We'll add more pictures, so you can have a glimpse to see what is happening. We'll work on making it more user-friendly as well and make sure you have the information sooner, rather than later. I'll share the information with the teachers and determine what programs/apps we can use to help condense information if you have multiple children. Lastly, if you ever need a paper copy, we have those in the office.

Thank you again, and look for some new and improved updates soon!

News From The Health Department

The Livingston County Health Department

The Livingston County Department of Public Health will be conducting a Vision Screening at Spencer Elementary. All Health Departments in Michigan provide routine vision screenings to identify children who have vision problems or might be at risk for vision problems. Children who do not pass the initial screening will be rescreened. If a child does not pass the rescreen, a letter will be mailed home recommending the child see an eye doctor for a complete eye examination.

Students in 1st & 3rd grade will receive a vision screening. Vision screenings will also be provided to students in other grades who are last-year follow-ups and parent/teacher requests. Spencer's VISION SCREENING is scheduled for January 3 & 4, 2019, and the RESCREENING is scheduled for January 7, 2019

Please notify the school (prior to the first day of screening) and provide child’s name and teacher if:

You have a concern for your child and your child is not in the above grades.

You do not want your child screened

Holiday Extravaganza

Huge thanks to all the volunteers who made the holiday shop possible! Without you, we can't keep these fun traditions alive. Thank you to all who came out to support the holiday shop. What a tremendous turnout and another successful year!

Staff Cookie Exchange

Each year we celebrate the teachers and staff of Spencer Elementary by hosting a Holiday Cookie Exchange on the last day before holiday break. We provide each staff member with a tin to select and fill up with holiday cookies and sweets that are donated by our amazing Spencer families!

Please sign up and indicate what kind and how many you can bring. This will help to ensure a good variety. Cookies do not need to be individually wrapped, but please bring on a disposable serving plate so we don't have to worry about returning dishes. Please drop off donations either the afternoon/evening of the 18th or the morning of the 19th.
