From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our Blue Jay Time this week started a discussion on how we can all spread kindness throughout our school. I have challenged our Jr. High students to create a Kindness Project/Initiative that can be implemented here at St. John’s. If you have a junior high son or daughter, please ask them about what their group is planning and how their SMART goal is coming along. I can’t wait to read about all the amazing ideas our students have. Hopefully, we will find some great ideas that become yearly projects for our students.
Don’t forget: Rock the Walk will take place on Friday September 30th. This is a fun event for our students and a fundraiser to allow our school to ensure we have the most up-to-date technology in the hands of our students. Our walk-a-thon chairs are planning a great day for our students. Right now we are almost halfway to our $10,000 goal. If students reach their goal, students will be off School on Monday, November 21st.
Lastly, I hope to see everyone at the PTO membership meeting on Thursday, September 22nd at 7pm. The guest speaker will be Sgt. Hussle from the Colerain Police Department. He will be addressing Internet Safety with the parents and the importance of staying on top of your student’s Social Media accounts.
Sincerely,
Courtney Weinheimer

St. Xavier High School hosts two Xperience Nights (October 18 and 26). Your school and all 7th & 8th grade families will receive an invitation to attend.
The evening begins in our Chapel of the Holy Companions at 6:30 p.m. and concludes at 8 p.m. Parents will hear a presentation about the mission of St. Xavier from a current student, the parent of a current student, faculty member, and an admissions representative – with ample time for questions and answers afterward. Students will learn about St. X by engaging in experiential learning opportunities that will be directed by current St. X students. Your students will also have the chance to have their questions answered. Families have found these nights to be an opportunity to receive in-depth information and hear different perspectives. Parents and faculty often can give a more “on the ground” view of the school. We ask that families register in advance.
Open House
On Sunday, November 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. prospective students and families are invited to attend our annual Open House. Tours are given by current students, allowing families time to speak with teachers, co-curricular moderators, and students about their experiences.
Shadowing
Shadowing is an integral role in a student’s decision making process. The shadowing program runs from September through December and provides interested eighth grade students with a firsthand experience on campus. Prospective students will be hosted by an Ambassador of Excellence, a freshmen or sophomore qualified to speak on the various aspects of St. Xavier High School. On these days at 8:30 a.m., parents have the opportunity to tour the school and hear a presentation from a St. Xavier representative about programs, tuition assistance, scholarships, and the admissions process. Families may register for shadowing on our website at https://www.stxavier.org/admissions/visit.
HSPT Prep Course at St. Xavier High School
This HSPT course covers all 5 sections of the test: Verbal Skills, Reading, Mathematics, Quantitative Skills and Language. The course begins with a comprehensive assessment exam, and the rest of the course focuses on learning content. By program’s end, students know how to tackle every type of problem on the HSPT – and effectively manage their time and the test.
The course will be taught on October 29th and November 5th at St. Xavier High School from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm or 12:30 to 4:30 pm.
Attached below is a one-page program overview for families who may be interested. Parents can sign-up at www.RedwoodPrep.com by clicking on the 'Sign Up' button on the website.
