Line Cook You will be part of a culinary team that creates excellent dining experiences for our Stratford Festival patrons at our Festival Theatre Café, through our patron lunches and picnics, in our staff and company Greenroom and in all aspects of banqueting events. This position is a seasonal contract with the possibility to begin immediately and continue until the end of October, with up to 40 hours per week. The position offers the possibility of an extention or renewal with a benefit package after two seasons, based on performance and business demand. Meals on duty, uniforms and gratuity plan included. Salary dependent on experience and knowledge, $13.50-$14.00 per hour. Cooking School for the Community At Large and Skype Cooking Coaching/Consultation Practice: Experienced Cook/Kitchen Assistant Needed for All Aspects of Kitchen Preparation Prior cooking experience is required. Key Tasks • Food preparation for cooking classes, consultations and media appearances: I am a small apprenticeship training facility. I am accepting applications from dynamic second or third year apprentices or experienced cooks. Strong knife skills. Operate safely, maintaining sanitary working conditions. Managing food inventory for freshness/organization and turnover. Role includes private chef duties. (Food Handler Certificate would be an asset – but willing to train.) • Supporting Chef in teaching role, including food preparation and plating during class. • Hospitable interaction with students/clients within a learning environment including service duties such as serving plated food, filling water glasses, clearing plates. Professional front-of-house demeanor for open kitchen environment is required. • Clean-up and set-up prior to and after the class/events including table-setting, polishing, organizing fridges, kitchen cleaning and any additional duties. • Recipe testing: Cooking skills and critical thinking skills required to interpret and test recipes. Data entry and writing skills for forms, recipe booklets and recipe writing. Comfort with word processing, spreadsheet software and pdfs required. • Social media and digital content creation experience would be an asset: growing social media following, creating unique quality content consistent with company values and philosophy, responding to social media inquiries and contact. Photography and photo-editing skills would be a bonus. • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Chef • Self-starter, able to work independently on assigned tasks while in communication with Chef. • Strong communication skills: Communicating with Chef and colleagues regarding role and responsibilities, interacting with clients in a hospitable manner. • This role offers a good work-life balance (mostly daytime hours) though hours are variable depending on client demands. • As this is a home-based business, employees required to participate in an online backcheck • Drivers license would be an asset due to remote location, This location is off major bus routes.
