Malala Yousafzai
Malala is a motivated girl who stands up for education. She stands up and is not afraid to say how she feels. Even though Malala has been sometimes nervous, she is never afraid. Malala even said, "I said to myself, Malala, you must be brave. You must not be afraid of anyone. You are only trying to get an education. You are not committing a crime".
Short Summary
Malala Yousafzai is a young girl from Mingora, Pakistan who loves to learn as she says on page 20, "When it was finally time for me to go to classes, I was so excited I could hardly contain myself". Malala and many other girls go to school until many fights started happening in the middle east, Pakistan was the Taliban’s next target. The army was losing and the people had no one to turn to. When the Taliban came and took over, they made their own rules. Girls can NOT go to school and you must follow the appropriate style. Though this didn’t stop Malala from having her own thoughts. Malala stood up for what she wants and was even shot, but this still didn’t stop Malala’s motivation.

Conflict and Resolution
After the Taliban took over, they started making their own rules. One of the main rules is that girls can not go to school. Malala loves school and without being able to go to school, it makes her mad. Though because her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, owns the school, he says the school will keep going in secret. The girls who attend the school are now not allowed to wear the school uniform, but everyday clothes. Some fathers and brothers of the girls kept them at home because they were worried the Taliban would bomb the school. It didn't stop Ziauddin or Malala from getting the education everyone needs.
The Theme
Malala teaches way more than one lesson in this book. The most important message I pulled out was that, even though school can be stressful and annoying, It's a beautiful way of life. If you have education you can do so many things. Including knowing the simple things like staying away from strangers and being kind to others. Malala wanted education and she wasn't afraid to say that she wanted it either.
"When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful" - Malala Yousafzai
Even though I have so many favorite quotes by Malala, this is my favorite. I love this qoute because it is so true. It does not matter if thousands of people speak up, if one person speaks up that tells others it's okay to speak up also. It is just like a classroom, it takes one person to ask a question and the chances are many others will have the same question. It is like a domino effect, one domino takes down the rest. Malala knows that she is no longer one person fighting for education she has risen awareness and we will fight with her.
Book Review
I would rate this book with five stars because how beautifully it was written. It was not written by someone who witnessed the story and gave their point of view, it was actually Malala's. In conclusion, because she wrote it, it gave so much emotion to the story.

"Ms. Yousafzai has single-handedly turned the issue of the right of girls--and all children--to be educated into the headline news. And she is a figure worth hearing"
