STEAMing Full Speed Ahead In The School City of Hobart!
All of our schools have a Makerspace where students gather at larger workspaces to let their minds open to creating what they imagine. The possibilities are truly endless! Projects as simple as taking pasta and marshmallows to build a structure to building an electric go-kart that we actually race takes place right here in our schools. No matter what direction your students grows up to take, these lessons can always be implemented in life and the best part is that they are having fun while doing it! Just look at some of these amazing talents our Brickies have that otherwise they may not have known they could do! The mind is limitless and so are their capabilities and talent! Check out the video below by clicking play or by visiting www.hobart.k12.in.us/STEAMinSCOH

Key Club Dominates At State Competition!
Key Club had an amazing weekend at their state convention this weekend. The club came away with the following awards and titles:
The club was presented the Riley Award for their dedication and donations to Riley Hospital for Children.
Senior Piper Logan was awarded Distinguished Club Treasurer.
Junior Alyssa Toscani was awarded Key Clubber of the Year.
The following students were elected into division and state positions:
Alyssa Toscani was elected the Calumet Division Lieutenant Governor.
Gianna Rodriguez was elected the Bulletin Editor for the state.
and Louis Gallegos was elected Governor, the highest position a student can hold in the state.
With a grateful heart, Mrs. Polizotto would like to thank seniors Elijah Puente, immediate past Governor, Meghan Horn, immediate past Calumet Division Lieutenant Governor and Events and Planning Chair, and Caryssa Roark, immediate past Bulletin Editor for all of their hard work and dedication to Key Club at the state level. You're leaving big shoes to fill.
Lights, Camera, Action! "Bring Back the 80's!"
Through some trials and tribulations these Brickies persevered and performed entertainment the whole time. Outstanding performance to all the Brickies and the Hobart High School Performing Arts Department! We know it takes a village to put a show on and you all rocked it!
Our Mathletes Are Really Adding Up!
Each student takes the quiz and grows at their own pace. Starting with addition and subtraction, they can take the test as many times as needed to move on to the next level. Once they complete all levels they earn a shirt! From there, no matter their grade level, they can start practicing multiplication and division to advance their skills. Pretty cool and they wear them proudly. Some students even go beyond by continuing their multiplication and division quizzes but at a faster speed! When this happens our Administrators and Superintendent take a special moment to celebrate the student!
Our Kindergartners Are "Peeping" It Real With Baby Chicks!
Thanks to Karp's Garden and Feed in Hobart for supplying us with the eggs and taking care of the chicks now that they hatched!
Cody Johnston Is Flying High!
Starting the season off, Cody competed in the Hoosier State Relay Qualifier at Purdue University and with the crowd cheering him on, conquered a 16'0" jump that landed him in 1st place! The following weekend, he took a trip to New York City where he competed in the New Balance Indoor Nationals and walked away with not only a 6th place finish but All-American Honors and a 16'3" jump - 1 height away from the top spot!
You would think it may die down from there, but he didn't! He then attended the Adidas Track Nationals at Virginia Beach where, along with some great experiences, earned a 4th place finish. Then most recently we went down to Indiana University and not one earned a title of Hoosier State Relay Champion, but also blasted through the previous record for that meet and broke his own personal record with a 16'7" jump!
We know that you will continue to push yourself and do your absolute greatest. Best of luck with the rest of the season to Cody and all of our Brickie athletes!
Teacher And Coach, Betty Funkhouser, Receives Award From The Mayor!
Recently she attended our Board meeting where she was awarded the 'Rachel Rodriguez Memorial Award' from the City of Hobart Mayor, Brian Snedecor "In memory of the spirit of dedication to the children of Hobart shown by Rachel Rodriguez, your faithful dedication to the children of the City of Hobart best exemplifies the love Rachel also held for the children in our city."
Miss Funkhouser is very much deserving of this award and we are so thankful and honored to have her as one of our amazing Brickie teachers, coaches, and motivators. Thank you for all you do!

Parent and Caregiving Wellness
Again this month we included our 1000hrs of outside time goal! It is amazing and, though sounds intimidating, is very doable! Especially when we have a great National Park within minutes of us!
Our body and mind still need fresh air and sunlight. Even though it may be a little chilly outdoors, we can still go for a nice walk or play at the park. As the sunlight increases, let’s all set a goal of getting 1000 hours of outside time. Here is a tool to keep track of your time as well as ideas. 1000 Hours Outside Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Zoladz for this resource. This has become a goal of their family this year. 1000 hours – We can do it! Let’s get outdoors and begin to enjoy the fresh air.
Finally, it is Conversation Time!! Yes, actual face to face conversation!
A meal together may be brief as we have many activities in the evening; however, use the time as a chance to learn and listen to each other. As you sit down together for a meal, give these conversation cards a try.
