Teacher Bar and Sack Lunches for Grandparents' Luncheons

The teacher bar will be lined up against the stage with its own drink station and cutlery. For your convenience we suggest you enter the cafeteria through the other set of doors on that day. There will also be a sign up sheet for lunch where you will (legibly, please) write your name and check off that you got a lunch with us. If you are eating something other than a whole lunch, please write it down so we can charge your account correctly.

Sack Lunches-

1) Ordering- The sack lunch form can be turned in by email, by sending it to the cafeteria, or to our mailbox. The deadline for orders and any corrections to an earlier order is 9:00 am on the morning of your event.

2) Eating- The Cafeteria will be delivering lunches to your classrooms for this event. We’re hoping this will make life a little easier for you as well as clear up some of the congestion in the Cafeteria that day.

3) Finishing up- There will be a paper copy of your order attached to the sack lunch box. If you have any final corrections to your order, this is the time to write it down. Your sack lunch form must be returned to the cafeteria AFTER your students have been served lunch and BEFORE the end of the day. This final copy is what we use to ring the students up in the computer. You can send it back to the cafeteria or put it back in our mailbox. Thank you!

Class Winter Parties

ALL winter parties will be held on December 19. A schedule will be shared with SIT for feedback from grade levels. Times will be decided through SIT and ALL classrooms must adhere to their grade level window of time. Stay tuned for those times.

Due to your great work to integrate technology into literacy instruction, Kimberly Lipe has selected Harbins as a host school for Kristin Ziemke's visit. Kristin is a co-author of Connecting Comprehension and Technology: Adapt and Extend Toolkit Practices. She will be at Harbins all day on December 12 to visit classrooms, model lessons and debrief with teachers. More details to come after our planning session with Kristin. We are very lucky to have this opportunity provided to our teachers and are very grateful for this chance to learn with Kristin!! Stay tuned for details!

Staff Survey for GA Department of Education

The RBES surveys were postponed by the district office until after the first of the year. We have an RBES survey session planned on the calendar for December 2. While we no longer need this time for the RBES survey, we have a survey for the GA Dept. of Ed. to complete for CCRPI. You took this survey last year. We need for all staff to complete this survey. This includes teachers, paras, office, administrators, Head Custodian and Cafe Manager.

Please take a moment to click the link below to complete the survey. IF we have staff go on and complete it now, we will not need to meet on December 2 to complete this required state survey. Thank you for your help in having one less meeting on our calendars by completing the survey on your own this week. Be careful on the ratings as the items can shift in a way that make you look at the ratings differently. That will make sense once you complete the survey. Just be sure to read the items and choices carefully.

Harbins Families - Holiday Help

If you know of any families that may need assistance with December Holiday help this year, please inform the counselors. The deadline for these requests is November 21st.

Pay Day Reminder

Don't forget that the November pay day is not until Wednesday, November 24. Monthly checks are not distributed until the last work day for 12 month employees in November, which is a week from this Weds. Just did not want anyone to think your check would go in on Friday of this week.

Literacy Updates

F & P Kit Rotation: Please begin rotating kits for winter assessments the week we return from Thanksgiving break. This should give everyone plenty of time to complete reading assessments prior to the January 23rd deadline. It's probably a good time to make sure scripts are stocked in tubs. Please let Jennifer Dalton know if scripts are needed.

Wash, Wash, Wash

The germs are in abundance. Please extra time to allow kiddos to wash their hands frequently. The best way to prevent the spread of strep and other things traveling from friend to friend is to have kids wishy, washy, wishy, washy. The custodians are doing extra cleaning during the day and after school to help as well. We appreciate your assistance in having everyone scrubby, dub, dub.

Harbins Spelling Bee

Attention 4th and 5th Grade Teachers! Please send the names of your top two winners from your classroom spelling bee to Jennifer Dalton no later than Friday, December 5th.

PTA Teacher Grants

The PTA is happy to be able to provide a grant for $50 to each certified teacher. You may purchase something for your classroom and turn in your receipt to receive your $50 reimbursement. If you wish to take advantage of the PTA grant, please get a check request form from the PTA box in the mailroom, complete the form and attach your receipt and leave it in the PTA mailbox. All reimbursement requests must turned in by Friday, December 5th. Checks will be issued by December 19.

If you purchase something that costs more than $50, you can still turn in your receipt and get reimbursed for $50 of that expense.
